Years and years of searching, and finally it stood before him.
Dotado. His last chance at sanity.
A male figure leaned back on the trunk of a tree and slid down until his bottom hit the ground, stray leaves crunching beneath his weight. He turned his head to the sky and sighed contently, a small smile, of all things, forming on his cracked and dry lips. Three years; had it really been that long? Three whole, long years of searching quietly in the background, looking for something that for a time Vivian thought that he'd never find.
The city stood before him, menace and comfort and a whole lot of other feelings all mixing up together inside Vivian, turning to one big vat of confusion. Could he afford to start all over again, or was the price too high? The gifted was only 17.
A cool breeze swept through the outskirts of Dotado, sending a slight chill up Vivian's spine. The black turtleneck that hugged his average frame was beginning to be too light for the season, and the lavender hooded vest that was draped over it wasn't helping much either. The teen wrapped the vest tighter around his silhouette, sliding a khaki and brown messenger bag off of his shoulders. Slowly, Vivian's content smile began to fade as reality hit him square in the gut. This really was his last chance, wasn't it?
The male's liquid honey gaze wandered all over the area, searching for something of interest. Soon, they drifted off to the sky, where an urban haze blocked the sunlight. Soon enough, sleep began to dim his thoughts, and Vivian's eyelids drooped. Through now-ashen lips he started to hum. The tune was very familiar to Vivian, it was one he and his grandfather used to hum when they were researching. They wrote it together during those three perfect years of Vivian's life. Those years he would never forget.
As sleep took over and Vivian slipped gently into unconsciousness, the sun peeked out from behind the city's dense haze, sending beautiful rays of sunlight scattering. One framed Vivian's sleeping figure, playing beautiful patterns in his chocolate and amber brown hair.
Hope at last.

The girl who seemed unbreakable, broke into a million pieces. The girl who seemed so strong crumbled. The girl who never gave up, finally stopped trying. on her head. Of course, she did not find herself any different. Every day seemed the same, nothing ever seemed different to her. She dug her hands into the pockets of her coat, as she began to sing. Rather loudly mind you. "I wake up, hearing my name in someone's voice. Floating above the blue waves within the sea castle, I dreamt. Somewhere in this sea, someone's speaking in an arguing voice. From a crying heart, love can't be born, embracing light. Only sadness flows." She then decided the song was too sad, so: "The wheels on the bus goes round and round. Round and round. The wheels-!" She had sang, before tripping over something. Or someone in her case. Renoa got up, as she made sure nothing was bruised before looking behind her. She tilted her head to the side, as her left rabbit ear twitched slightly. "Hello? Anyone in there? 'Ellooooo?" She asked, poking the boy in the side ever so slightly. ' Renoa, leave him alone. He is sleeping." said a tiny little voice in her head. An even louder voice screamed," WAKE THAT BOY UP. He's ignoring you. That's not nice." And, she listened to the incredibly loud voice that echoed inside her head. "WAKE UP! HELLO! WAKEY-WAKEY SLEEPY!" Renoa screamed, at least until she had worn her voice out. She coughed slightly, as the edges of her lips tipped downward. She pouted ever so slightly, as she sat down with her legs crossed.[/ul] Aishiertu He said "I'll love you forever." She smiled and said,"Just tell me when forever starts to end" ♥ ♥ ♥

The teen was grateful for a chance to sleep, even if it was outdoors. In fact, Vivian probably prefered it that way. Lush green leaves began to pile up around him as the were blown from their branches in the gentle breeze.
A weary groan escaped Vivian's lips, which were pale with sleep. Slowly, his groggy eyes opened. It took a moment before it finally registered in Vivian's brain that a girl stood before him. The gifted's honey eyes flew open, and he scrambled to his feet, almost tripping over the tree's root. Vivian stumbled around for a moment before finally composing himself. He brushed dirt off of the back of his steel-blue jeans, and watched the other. Did the girl have.... rabbit ears?
Vivian felt his face burn up; how long had she been screaming in to his ear? He surmised that it hadn't been all that long. The teen's gaze met the other's, and he began in a calm voice, "I'm awake, can't you see?" Slowly, the rest of his body relaxed, and Vivian let out a sigh. "How long have you been here?"

I pretty much ROCK. Yeah. No story. ." She said with a giggle following shortly after. "I've been here for a few minutes. I was only on a walk, 'fore I tripped over you." She said, smiling. At least until she realized what she had said. Renoa felt her face heat up, which was rather obvious. "May I ask who you are? I'm Renoa Cameron Heartlily, at your service." She spoke aloud with a strange little grin playing on her lips. "It's been strange lately. Not regular weather." Renoa said to herself as her eyes drifted to the sky. She stood up, brushing off the edges of her dress. "Before you ask or judge me in any way, I have real rabbit ears. And, I don't really care what you think. I've managed to dodge the comments people say about me." Renoa said, crossing her arms across her chest. "I'm really sorry that I woke you up. Um...I can leave you if you'd like." She said with a guilty smile. "Um...guilty pleasure. I was bored." She repeated, at least trying to prove that she was innocent. Which, she wasn't.[/ul]

Now fully relaxed, Vivian shoved his hands in the pockets of his jeans and smiled contently. This Renoa girl seemed kind enough; spunky little girl... who wasn't all that little. In fact, Vivian thought she wasn't much younger or older than he, probably around seventeen or so. However strange her excuse for waking him was, Renoa's smile was comforting. Maybe Dotado wouldn't be as bad as expected.
"Pleasure to meet you, Renoa," Vivian said, a smile lighting up his own face, which was now beginning to regain it's color. "You may call me Vivian, if you like. Vivian Demetri." He bowed his head, surpressing a laugh.
Vivian tried his best to not stare at the nonhuman ears sitting atop Renoa's head. In all honesty, he originally thought they were fake. "You, don't have to get worked up about it, Renoa," he said, attempting to keep his voice calm and kind. "I wouldn't make fun of you." It was the truth, Vivian was against any sort of teasing, or at least about "gifts".
"Guilty pleasure, eh?" The teen laughed, the sound so light it could float on the wind like a feather. Renoa was strange to say the least. "Please, don't leave," Vivian said quickly. After all this time, company of any sort would be a welcome thing.

You can't hear her, no matter how loudly she screams. You can't feel her, no matter how tightly she hugs you. You can't see her, no matter how hard she tries . about you? Because, in any way I look: you seem like an ordinary teenager to me." She said, with a funny little grin on her face. She was bouncing on her heels ever so happily. Renoa was simply that way. She trusted everyone, no matter what they did wrong. Or whatever had happened to them. That was a feature that many took an advantage of. Renoa sat down, crossing her legs. She tilted her head up a bit, before letting out a breath. "Why did you leave? Other than being a gifted, why did you come here of all places? Me...I just needed somebody who understood me. I can't honestly see the difference of me compared to everyone else. Other than a few minor details, I'm normal. Kind of. My family has more than likely forgotten me. I just dissappeared off the face of the Earth." She said, as she looked up with childish curiosity. [/ul]

Vivian felt out of breath, and he hadn't even been the one talking.
That girl had one hell of a lot to say... not that that was a bad thing. No one had ever really cared about what Vivian had to say. Furthermore, they had something in common; they were different. They were unique; just like everyone else in Dotado. "I'm not repulsed; not at all! Who feels repulsed over their friends?" Vivian's voice was hurried; he wasn't even sure if that last sentence made sense. But he slowed down to tell the rest of his story. Or at least as much as she had asked about.
"I've been alone for three years now," he began, stammering a bit over his first words. Social klutz. "But, as you can see... I'm here now." A content smile formed on the teen's lips as he continued. "I'm here because I'm different, but not in an obvious way. I never tried to make it evident that I was gifted." The teen had to slow himself down a bit before he realized he hadn't yet answered Renoa's question. "I can morph my skeleton, I guess. I mean, it's not fancy or anything, but it works well."
Vivian watched dizzily as the girl bounced up and down on the balls of her feet. If Vivian hadn't already known she was just like that, he probably would've thought she was having a seizure. He sat down gracefully, crossing his legs as Renoa had done.
"We have a lot more in common than you realize," Vivian explained, his tone slightly too light and calm for the topic. "I left because I felt no one could truely understand me any longer. Not after my grandfather died." The boy gave a pained smile, attempting to focus on the youthful grin that seemed plastered on to Renoa's face.

Woah, talk about mood shift.
From spazzy spunk-ness to solem.... solemness. In a matter of minutes. Vivian thought he had found a truely happy person. He fought the instinct to scoot over to Renoa's side and pat her on the back. "That's a bit..... depressing."
How wrong the poor boy was. Before he knew it, the bunny girl was right next to him.
Hugging Vivian. The teen felt his seventeen-year-old face burn up like a child's as Renoa's arms wrapped tightly around him, locking the boy in an amazingly strong embrace. And, as soon as it had begun, the hug ended. Strange girl. Vivian, however, couldn't help himself. He giggled as well... in one of those freakish, teen-like ways. "Of course it does, Renoa!"
Friends until the end. That sounded really nice to Vivian's ears. Vivian's honey eyes glittered with happiness as he searched for what to do. "Friends until the end," he said, glomping Renoa right back as if they'd known each-other for ages.

." She said in almost a slight whisper. Renoa thought for a moment, before deciding to say something. "Let's take you to your new home. Well...for now, we have to make do with my home for now. M'kay Vivian?" She asked, with an innocent smile plastered onto her face. "I'll show you 'round town. They're no different from most of us all. They can be very inviting, at least when they want to be." She said, looking at Vivian for a moment. She pursed her lips for a moment, before kissing him on the forehead. She felt her rabbit ears twitch slightly.[/ul]

Home. It sounded like a blessing to Vivian.
"Pretty, you say." The teen's voice was the slightest bit distant. Renoa didn't know how right she was. Of course, Vivian was most certainly not gifted with any "coolness". He didn't know how to react, or what to say. He felt his face begin to turn pink at the cheeks.
"Inviting is always good." Vivian felt his voice crack a bit. The teen tugged at the collar of his black turtleneck that suddenly seemed too hot, even though it was only around 54? outside; not to mention the slightest bit windy. "But, would you really share a home with me?" It didn't make much sense; Renoa had just met him. Vivian wasn't used to being trusted like this.
The teen's honey eyes were set ablaze as he supressed a stare. Vivian flinched slightly as Renoa's lips gently touched his forehead. It was almost scary how much the kiss felt like his mother's.
Again, Vivian stammered; he was at a loss for words. Sure, he liked Renoa and all, but hadn't they just met? Vivian didn't really care all that much. He tended not to care about many things.
"So," he began in his calm voice, "Would you like to..." The gifted paused, thinking quickly. He needed to find something to do, but he wasn't exactly full of dough. "Go, get some coffee, or something?"

The haze seemed to let up, and twinkling stars pierced through it's dusty cover.
Vivian's eyes lit up with pleasure, his face glowing. It felt so... good, to be trusted. This all felt so simple, like it could happen to anyone; yet it also felt so complicated, like this all could be screwed up so quickly. The teen was again at a loss for words. He just wanted to sit there forever, under the stars. Vivian's voice was soft. "That's wonderful, Renoa. I don't know how I can thank you enough."
Soon enough, Renoa began to pout; Vivian knew he couldn't have kept her happy for long. That was simply the way things were. The male raised his hands up in the air, crouching down so he seemed shorter than her. "Oh, you aren't that short!" Vivian laughed shortly.
Vivian watched, stunned, as Renoa immediatly tugged at his wrist; and before he could get up, she fell over. Quicker yet, she was back on her feet, happy as ever. It was confusing, but not exactly something Vivian was about to complain about. "Careful, Renoa! You don't want to hurt yourself." The teen didn't do so well around hurt or sick people, it made him uncomfortable.
Sighing contently, Vivian lay down, hands clasped behind his head. "Look," he said in his carefree tone, "The stars are so pretty tonight!" His honey eyes softened like butter, and Vivian pulled one hand from behind his head to pat the ground next to him. "C'mon, lie down."

Aishiertu. He said,"I'll love you forever." She smiled and said,"Just tell me when forever starts to end." ♥ ♥ ♥ can do." She said. "But, you know..it kinds of wears me-" She didn't finish her sentence. In fact, she couldn't. She fell dead asleep on the grass. She was incapable of controlling her "gifted-ness". She often fell asleep when she used it. She slept soundly with a serene smile on her lips. --- "June? June-bug?" She said in a whisper, looking around in silence. "Where are you?" She asked, her cerulean blue eyes staring at the ground. She looked up, only to see her brother's hands wrapped around a gun. She didn't do anything...did she? "Speak to me!" He shouted, as Renoa quivered in fear. "Fine. Juss' shut up." June was crying. Renoa could tell. He dropped the gun on the ground, as she crawled over next to him. Words did not need to be shared. They both knew enough. --- Renoa woke up in a start. Screaming. Really loudly. She placed her hand near by her heart, feeling the vibrations echo throughout her body. "Huh?" She said, looking around. Her eyes found Vivian, then the stars that played within the night sky. She looked to Vivian, with a small smile, as felt her body calm. Renoa pulled her legs to her chest, and she did not use words. She let the silence take over, and for once in Renoa's life; it made her happy.[/ul]

"June-bug," he said quizzically.
"Hmm, that's a nice name." Vivian smiled crookedly, he knew that last statement was rather stupid. But, he'd never met this June-bug, so he wouldn't know if it was a nice name or not. All he knew was that Renoa shared a house with this man that was named after some sort of beetle.
"Well... o'course." The teen's cheecks blushed, but only for a moment. Before he knew it, blood was pouring from Renoa's hand; and before he could reach over to help her, it had stopped. So the girl really was gifted. It was rather amazing, both what she could do, and how she could withstand the pain. The copperish tang of blood wafted through Vivian's nose, and he felt slightly woozy.
Vivian gasped as Renoa's body toppled to the ground, snoring. The boy's eyes widened with shock as he scrambled to her side, whispering her name in her ear. Overreacting, as usual; but it wasn't his fault that hurt people scared him. Of course, in the end it really was his fault, and he didn't even know if Renoa was hurt. He twirled a lock of her long pink hair in one finger; it really was pretty. It reminded him of his mother's.
"HOLY-" The male jumped up, startled, rubbing his ear as Renoa's shrieks rang out through the once-silent night. "Are you alright?" But Vivian was silenced by her cerulean blue gaze, and he knew that words didn't belong here. Vivian wrapped one arm around Renoa's relatively small shoulders, and gazed up at the stars, a smile forming on his lips as well.
