Her cinnamon brown tresses bounced about lightly as Maya's formed moved in synced with the music. No, it wasn't of that crazy jirrating that most teeni-boppers did, but more of suttle movement. "One Apple Martini comin' right up," Maya said with a smile on her face. The music that bumped throught the place was from hip-hop to techno to rock; a great variety. All of the people there were pretty well-behaved...Well, as far as violence went. And besides, any violence was taken care of by the rather built bouncers at the door. Just waiting to see someone bounce: like a bad check.
"Here ya go sir," Maya said over the raving loud music. Her eyes landed on a rather handsome fellow. The golden hue of his tresses were slightly distorted by the strobe lights that flew about the club. His form was calm in the bar stool he sat in, his hands folded gently over his abdominol region. His eys just scanned the dancing crowd before shifting back over to the bartender. Lavier nodded at Maya.
"I know this drink seems a little fruity for a man like me." "I don't think so." "You don't have to, I know so." "Don't flatter yourself," Maya said with a chuckle. "Trust me, that was a self-diss, far from a compliment."
Maya smiled....He sort of reminded her of another Arkady...Except he was more edgey....More bad boy. And perhaps younger.
"I'm Maya, who're you?"
"Lavier...Get back to work Maya," He smiled abit. His eyes went about to the club, as though not paying much attention to the little flirtation he had just commited to between imself and the bartender.
Well, he didn't want to give other single women too much of an idea that he was taken...But still, he didn't want to look like he was desperate either. He wanted to look open and free. Free to flirt, and free to find; find one he was interested in, that is.
Maya had become expert at her job. Once, just weeks ago, she had taken up a job as a waitress at the Russu Inn. In all reality, she enjoyed it. She was most of the time in good spirits, and the costumers liked her, and tipped-well. Besides the ocassional drunk passerby who seeked advice, all went well. Oh yeah, and lets not forger that ocassional man who comes by looking for a nice grope or two; les just say he'd wound up with a couple broken fingers. But what Maya liked the most was the atmosphere. It was a get away from all of the stress....All of the realities of life.

"I said NO." "Aww, come on, sweetheart, you know you don't mean that..."
A petite woman was being followed and heavily badgered by a large, beefy man with long, wavy hair and a thick beard. Biker? Probably. "C'mon dollface, I'll show you a night you'll never forget! A night with a real MAN." "What part of NO don't you underst-" He suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her in close, his gaze and tone like ice; "I don't think YOU understand, sweetpea. What I want, I get; and no sassy bitch is gonna tell me I can't have some of her - Ahhh! Wh-what... Who the hell do you think you are?!"
The biker suddenly found his wrist in the vice-like grip of a larger man with wispy dark hair and pointed ears. Ornate tattoos adorned his face which now held a mask of molten fury. His fingers tightened and the biker squealed, his hand suddenly unable to stay attached to the now-terrified woman's arm. "The lady said no," the dark man said, his voice deep with a slight nasal edge to it, and almost monotonously calm. "Don't make her repeat herself."
The tattooed man then strong-armed the biker out of the club, the smaller male wimpering and crying out in pain the whole way. He returned a moment later, rubbing his hands as if he'd just handled something covered in dirt. The woman advanced towards him as if to thank him - or flirt, if he was still any good at reading human body language, but Ares merely held up a hand as he passed her on his way to the bar. "The best way you can thank me, is to buy some pepper spray or take some martial arts classes. You hear me?"
Taking a seat at the bar, Ares Chevalier rolled his shoulders and sighed. Gods, but he would NOT make a good bouncer at this place; he'd be kicking ass left right and center. There was nothing the laguz dragon hated more than a bully - and nothing he loved more than taking said bully to the cleaners. "I'm just too soft for my own good, you know?" he said to the cinnamon-haired bartender on duty., flashing her a friendly smile. It wasn't like he flirting or anything, Ares was just a friendly guy. He was surprised though by how many women found that to be a turn on, and had discovered over the years that this trait coupled with his looks made him an unintentionaly chick magnet. Not that he was necessarily complaining mind you... "Hey, I could I get a Moosehead over here, please?" he said. Roughing up some stupid human twit always made him want a beer for some unfathomable reason. His keen laguz senses told him the young man a few stools down from him was drinking a rather fruity concoction. Ares didn't consider himself an opinionated guy, and it was a free country, but no MAN he'd ever known would drink something that smelled so strongly apples. Weren't fruity martinis a chick drink? Ah well, it was none of his business. The pretty bartender and his beer; now THAT was his business - and worthy business it was.

(SQUEE!! And P.S. I had to google MooseHead =p)
Lavier inched up from his laxed position as he watched a gruff man rough up this one woman. He was about to remove himself from his fruity drink when some other male removed the biker away seemingly without hassle. Only when the man was bounced by not even the bouncer himself, Lavier returned back to his positioning. His eyes shifted over to Maya who was shaking her head, her curls bouncing lightly.
"So this is what you have to deal with?" Maya nodded, obviously unphased, "Every night there's someone who gets it in their over-sized that the can walk around getting any woman they want, when they want, and for what they want...I'm well over it, but whatever," She shrugged.
Her palms were flat on the top of the bar, a white aura of condensation against the cool, damp marble outlining her warm hand. Her lavender gaze sauntered over to the man who had just arrived at the bar. Infact, that was the man who had just bounced the air-headed man! Boy was he dashing! Good-looking guys like Lavier and this newly arrived gentleman were plusses to working as a bartender ata night club.
Before she could say "Can I get you anything," he had placed his order. With that said, Maya stooped down, removing a can from a shelf of other beers alike. She came up with a smile on her face, sliding the can across to him. The can was quite creative. Infact, until she had worked this job (Until I googled it, LOl) she had never seen that brand of beer before. "One MooseHead." She shifted over to him.
"That was a nice save...You oughta be a bouncer," she chuckled, and removed a small dampened hand towel. She began wiping down the bar. Maya had saw the way he shrugged off the girl he'd 'saved', and it looked as though he could careless about compliments; So she decided not ot dwell on it. She glanced back to Lavier who had been finishing up his Apple Martini. "Anything else, Lavier," Maya asked in a playful sing-song tone.
"No Ma'am, I am just fine, thank you though," he said, raising his hand, acting as a gesture to back up his words. Maya went back to wiping down her bar.

"Spirit's Freedom."
The words slipped out, an utter example of pointing out the obvious. Blond hair shook about freely, even though in a wild manner, still looking good framing that bold face of Clint's. He shrugged. He needed a drink. His hand came up, hooking a finger in what he believed to be the worst creation that man could ever have thought up. A tie. He pulled it down with his index finger, and lifted his head up, bowing back his neck to get some room to breath. He felt so weird.
Getting a job was a bitch in this town. Place after place, application after application.. Does no one want to hire an ex-murderer? Guess not. Clint frowned. Too many years in the wrong profession. He just wanted to be able to look Maya in the eye and tell her that he had gotten a job. A real job, a good one. Hell, he didnt care if it was just to be a cashier somewhere..
So here he stood. He had on a white cotton button up long sleeve shirt, a black tie, and a pair of black slacks. He had tried to take that tie off, but it wouldnt budge. He would cut it later..He swore it, he would take a knife to the damned thing! As he thought of it, he looked down at his bare hands. What a different feeling it was to be able to feel the breeze on your hands after so long of not knowing what that felt like. Clint now felt like a fool. An utter and complete failure. He drug a hand through his already mussed up hair. He unbuttoned a few of the top buttons of the shirt, which of course didnt help because of the tie..But now a looped curve of the tattoo on his chest peeked through the new opening.
Now he needed a drink. No, he needed a lot of drinks. He wanted to forget that the day ever happened. He missed Darcy..he missed Maya. Hell, he thought of them every second of every day. They were like his family.. Black shoes hit the floor of the night club. Eyes surveyed the place with a tired look. Many people, young adults to middle aged people were on the dance floor or at the bar. The bar. Yes, that was where he wanted to be. He sat down next to a rather large guy drinking an ornate beer, but Clint couldnt tell which kind. Beer wasnt his thing.
" I need a glass of Jack Daniels on the rocks, and leave the bloody bottle." He muttered to the bartender. His right arm crossed over the top of the bar and his forehead leaned down on it. He sat staring at a highly polished surface. Bartender did her job. Clint could appreciate that. Maybe he would tell her that later.. Maybe.. If he could remeber and if his speech wasnt so slurred that she couldnt understand him. Now, his shirt sleeves had come up to show the beginnings of the tattoo on his wrist, a solid ring that started at the bones of his wrist and wound up into flames that just almost came halfway up his arms. "Damn its hot in here.." He muttered to himself. And here he was putting fire down his throat with whiskey.. Brilliant man he was.. "What the hell, Bar--" Clint had looked up, seeing Maya smiling at the man he had sat next to. "Maya? When did you start working here?" He asked, feeling a twinge of hurt and jealousy at the look she was giving the other men.

Maya at first hadn't noticed Clint walk in at all. She was busy with making small talk with Lavier, and complimenting the man who had bounced that one drunk. She hadn't even heard him order. Hell, she hadn't even noticed him in that shirt and tie of his. Well, at least she hadn't until he brought himself to her attention. She could hear the- well, she couldn't quite tell what it was in his voice. Although she knew it couldn't have been happy. The emotions that were backing up his voice, that is.
She didn't know how to handle this situation. She was caught off gaurd. Truth be told, she wasn't up for dealing with hostile emotions from Clint, or whoever else. Maya knew she couldn't leave the bar, but didn't want to just completely blow him off. "Clint! I didn't even notice you," Maya said in a shocked yet excited tone of voice. She moved over infront of him, which this location wasn't too far away from where she had just been standing. "Uhm, I got a job here about two or three weeks ago." She tried to keep her tone as cheery as possible.
The last thing she wanted to do was get an attitude, or give him an answer he didn't want to hear. CLint was the last person that she wanted mad at her, but a scene was the last thing she wanted to happen on her job. Hopefully, this surprise would just blow over....Hopefully.

"Of course you didnt notice me. Your attention seemed to be elsewhere." He said in a completely flat tone, as his eyes shifted to Lavier. " I asked for a Jack Daniels, on the rocks, leave the bottle." He muttered as his eyes closed halfway. He wanted to make sure she couldnt tell what he was thinking. Or let her know how close he was on the verge of screaming and tearing the place apart..or how close he was to quietly walking away, tears in his eyes. The emotions that he felt battled in his head. He needed a drink to cool down those thoughts, so he could think clearly about this.
Clint drew out a small curved blade, only about four inches in length and flipped it open. He put it to his neck and hesitated before slashing upward toward his chin in one swift movement. The tie floated down onto the bar, and Clint flipped the knife closed and put it back in his pocket. Cool eyes watched Maya. He gathered up the silk material and threw it in a nearby wastecan. Damn ties. He rolled his head around on his shoulders, at last, it wasnt the tie choking him. Now it was his emotions. He waited for his drink, now resolutely not looking at the two seated next to him.
Running his hand through his hair seemed to be a nervous habit, or one he did when stressed, as he was doing so again, pulling the hair away from his face. He would stay calm. He wouldnt cause trouble. For what? Well, hell, even though he felt utterly betrayed, he still wanted Maya to think well of him. Damn stupid love. Why? Of all people why did one woman make him want to do a complete 360 and be something he is not? Because God has a very sick sense of humor. And Clint just didnt feel like laughing right now.

Maya's expressions slowly went from peppy to blank, if not irritated. "Well sorry for doin' my job, Clint." Her eyes rolled about in their sockets, as she backed away from the bar. "Maybe I should just quit now," muttered. Maya ducked once more, grabbing a bottle frm underneath the counter, as well as a glass. She sat the glass on the counter with a thud. She removed the top from the bottle, and began to pour the drink into the glass. The glass was short and round. Those tall glasses barely exsisted at a bar, with the exception of water.
Lavier glanced over at Clint, his expression not reading anything. He was about to open his mouth to speak, but then decided against sticking his nose where it didn't belong. He watched as Clint, in one swift motion, cut the tie off. Lavier laughe don the inside. "Yeah, not really your style," he said over the bumping music in a sarcastic tone. It was almost as if he were taking an indirect punch at the stranger for even thinking of getting jealous. It was like Lavier was secretly saying 'If I wanted her, I could have her.' But who was to know?
Maya tossed the bottle away, sliding the glass over to Clint, with more than a little force; more force than needed actually. This caused the drink to slosh about in the glass.
"Get wasted," she said in a cool tone. Maybe more cool than nesassary, but she was already angry at the fact that Clint was acussing her, indirectly at that, of something she wasn't doing.

Clint let the drink slide right past him and into the floor with a small crashing sound as the glass broke. It didnt match the breaking of his heart. For a moment he just sat there staring at the peices. He breathed in slowly, and let it out in a practiced exceedingly long breath. This was supposed to calm him. It didnt. His chair swung to the side as he stepped out. His feet crunched on the glass. He turned and walked to the door. Earlier he could not decide on what to do. Scream, or cry. The tears that managed to slip down his cheek answered that question. Everything that they had been, gone. Clint shook his head as he walked out of the door. The silence was blessed. The sound of the music still pulsed in his ears.. or was that the unsteady beat of his heart?
"Flirting with every hot guy in the bar is her job? .. Might as well set her up a pole.. " Clint let out a ragged laugh that ended up trailing off sadly. What a bad joke. Just his anger lashing out. Alright. Now what did he have to stay at Dotado? .. Nothing..Nope.. Time to leave. That was the solution. Running away from his problems..but would the coldness he heard in her voice ever stop tormenting him? The pain he felt told him no.
It started to rain. A struggling sarcastic laugh managed to slip past his lips. "But of course." He said simply as he walked away from the bar, and the only girl he ever loved.

As he got up, Maya sighed. A sigh of what? Pre-agnst? Frustration? Hurt? But why hurt? Hurt that she'd hurt someone dear to her? She tore around the corner of the bar, and after him, though he had been walking pretty fast. There was a point on the chase after him when she stopped. Did she really want to follow him? Was it at all nessasary? But she couldn't find not one doubt in her mind. And with that reassurance, she rushed to the door, only catching his laugh....That one laugh she thought she would never have heard again.
And a "but of course." Oh no, she wasn't about ot let him get away that easy. Despite the rain, she went after him, gripping his arm, "Clint! I'm sorry okay?" Maya said, her voice abit shaking. Why are you getting emotional Maya?! Shake it off, shake it off!
"I just. You were just accusing me of something I wouldn't think of doing. Sure, on the job, my personality is flirtacious, but I dont mean any of it!"
She finally let go of his arm, "You've got to know that," she said in a pleading tone. She lifted a hand, wiping her face, in attempt to clear it of the rain. "Clint, don't walk away from us...The new you..." Her eyes were on him, which she just knew he could feel beaming on him.

Clint felt the hand on his arm. His heart pounded in his chest, threatening to get out with that much force. He could feel his pulse in his throat and he had to swallow around it just to breath. The rain slicked down his hair, darkening it to a dark blond. The wind blew, sending the rain flying in another direction. Clint's head dropped as he looked at the droplets splattering on the pavement.
" I didnt accuse you of anything. I didnt even suggest. I felt it. I just knew. Flirting is one thing Maya. It really is. If that was your job. Well then so be it. Why didnt you tell me you got the job here? What happened to the Inn? Why this?" He motioned, angry about her anger, angry that she saw him in his moment of weakness and didnt offer to help, but only offered sarcasm.
"Get wasted."
She didnt even know what had brought him there. She hadnt mentioned the outfit.. She had assumed that he was there mainly to get drunk for the hell of it. It was then that he realized how little they knew about each other.
"Clint, don't walk away from us...The new you..."
Clint's eyes finally met Maya's. The rain hid his tears and for once he was thankful for the weather. His shirt was soaked through, the nicely tailored slacks were officially ruined. His polished shoes, covered in dirt. Wow. What a day this had been. Went from bad to worse. He had spent a lot of money on this outfit. Had placed all of his hopes in this town. All of his heart in Maya. He had a lot invested in this new life. The new Clint. What did he get out of it? Lost money and a broken heart? Did he want this? Looking at Maya...Yeah. He wanted this life, this misery. And Clint knew it was stupid that he wanted to be angry, wanted to be sad, but wanted so badly to be in love.
All of his tattoos now began to show through the damp shirt. A darkness in all that bleached white. A shining white scar also showed on his midsection. Complements of Devon Heise. Asshole. Clint shook his head, clearing his thoughts. "Why Maya?" He asked in a low and soft voice. " I just want to know why I walked in and felt that at any second that you would leave me for them?"

Maya could feel the hurt in his voice. It hurt her to the bones. Never had she felt so guilty. Over one thing...One tiny little inccident. Without second thought, her arms wrapped tightly around his soaked torso. She burried her face within his chest. Her body shook once as she let out a sob. All sorts of emotions were overcoming her right now. Her emotions with his came down on her shoulders with the weight of the world. It was terrible, but it felt good to let it out. Her face turned, head now rested on his chest. The rain disguised her tears as well, though Clint would already have known that she was crying. "I'm sorry Clint." she said in a low, quivery tone of voice. She wanted to say it all. But she couldn't, for all that would have came out was a sob or two. She wanted to say that it wasn't her job, it was her personality that came along naturally with the job. That she was friendly rather than flirty. She wanted to say that she'd quit if he wanted her to. She wanted to say that she wasn't going to let a job come inbetween the two of them. That he could trust her completely,But all she oculd utter was an "I'm sorry". Did that say everything to him? It said eveything for her.

Clint let her hug him, her sobs racking his body as well with their force. As she cried, Clint looked down, at first, his arms held out from his sides, just looking at her, as if he couldnt decide whether to hug her or push her away.
"Im sorry Clint."
His brow furrowed accompaning the frown on his face. He sighed. It was full of anger, and resentment, and just letting go. He forced it all away as he wrapped his arms around Maya much as she was doing with him. One hand ran from the top of her head all the way down her wet brown hair. His head laid on hers, gently pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
" I just dont know what to do with you Maya. I love you. With all of my heart I love you." He paused, but decided to go on since she was quiet. " I went out searching for a job today....Thats why the tie and shit. Went to find a job to make you proud. To make Darcy proud of me." He hugged her tighter. " I couldnt find anyone that hire the likes of me. Disappointment sucks. I came here to get drunk, and forget today even happened.."

She listened to his heart beat. The sychranized beating was the only thing that had calmed her. She let out a sigh of relief as he hugged her back, though it would only be percieved as another silent sob. "But CLint...I am proud of you...And your tie and shirt, it looked nice," she laughed abit. "You don't have to get a job to make me proud, I am proud...Just by you changing yourself completely...." She closed her eyes. Despite all the rain and wind, she felt secure and warm within his arms. She knew people must have thought of the two of them as crazy. Standing out in the middle of the parking lot, in the rain. "Clint," Maya began, "I'll get another job if the change'll make you feel better."

Casually sipping his beer, Ares remained silent as the little drama unfolded before him. Human lives fascinated him, everyone of them a microcosm of surging emotions, barely contained urges and illogical outbursts. Everyone of them had a story just begging to be told. It was no wonder many of his people became hooked on humans. Their nature, their ways, their cultures; so many dragons get just as caught up in their chaotic lives. It was more addictive than any man-made drug. Humans were just so full of vitality!
Ares was quite content to watch things play out between the pretty bartender and the man that had just waltzed in. He had an odd scent, one that tickled Ares sensitive laguz nose and niggled in the back of his mind, but he couldn't say why. Although, it became a bit clearer with the man's choice of removing his tie; Ares had barely been able to bite back a warning growl. But yeah, what was with those tie things human men wore? Honestly, how intelligent could it be to tie a little noose around your neck everyday? The dragon just added it to the list of things humans did that defied reason - it was a long list.
He couldn't help feeling a little worried when the bartender followed the volatile man outside. Ares reminded himself that it wasn't his business, but too often these days macabre printings of rape and murdered adorned newspapers across the globe, and if Ares had a chance to prevent even one, you could bet he was going to take it. Another few minutes... He give her five more minutes, and if she wasn't back, Ares was going out to make damn sure that ghoulish man hadn't done anything to her. It got his dragon blood boiling just thinking about it.

"Oh Maya..No.. Its just .. No its not the job. Not at all.. Maybe..well.. I dont know. I dont want you to quit when you seem to like it so much. I will just..Stay away from it for the most part.. I guess you get good business when you talk to the guys at the bar..I guess.." He muttered. He hugged her again. "No, no quitting. I will not hear it.. Besides, if you quit..who will get me that drink I need so badly?" He asked with a chuckle as he lifted up her chin with a crooked finger. "Come on babe. Be my bartender." He smiled softly as he laid a kiss on her lips.
He took her hand and walked back through the rain, almost laughing at his appearance now. He looked over at her and noticed the rain had made her clothes cling..... Clint shook his head. "Uh uh.. Maya, look at you.. I cant let them see you like that.. Its killin me to. They cant touch." Clint said, only half joking. He looked around but saw nothing else in sight for her to change into. " Eh.. You go in and go to the bathroom, I will go to a store and get you a shirt and skirt? Or pants? Which do you prefer and what size do you wear?"
*sighs* ((A man that will buy you clothes? *Drool* LOL))
