A basic blue pick-up truck backed up to the Shelter's back door. A young woman sat in the drivers seat, her brown hair let loose to her shoulders in it's typical straight style. The engine turned off, and out stepped Lorna. She had been doing some donations recently. Giving the shelter more food to dish out, some blankets that had been replaced recently, old dishes that weren't needed, stuff like that.
" Hi, Lorna." A gruff looking man greeted, looking at the boxes stacked in the truckbed. She smiled and greeted him. Today her outfit was designed purely around the fact she would be lifting and helping out all day. The fact she also came with two helpers also seemed apparent. For almost instantly after Lorna dropped the tailgate a young man appeared out of nowhere. His black leather coat fit rather simply of his white button up shirt and black tanktop which hide beneath that. He wore jeans with his sneakers.
A similiar outfit was found on Lorna, however she doned a pair of black flats and a white 'wifebeater'. Another figured seemed to linger in the shadows. A black parasol blocked the sun from touching the young and graceful figures skin. She wore a long, satin, wine read dress with long bell sleeves and a high sitting turtle neck.
" Gabrielle, you didn't have to come my dear." Lorna spoke softly to the female Vampire who hide herself from the sun as best she could. The dress she wore pooled around her feet, hiding the black pumps she wore. Gabrielle smiled softly, nodding her head a little.
" Of course I did, Lorna. I've not seen you in a while and felt that it was impolite to hide away in the mansion. Besides, We brought goods as well." She snapped and a larger truck came around the corner and parked itself near Lorna's. " Father and Mother felt we should help the community." Explained the girl in her thick romanian accent.
" I'll have to call them later on and thank them." Lorna said with wide eyes as Rayner already took to unloading. He never really said much when in a working mood. " Rayner, the front three boxs are dishes. Put them somewhere they won't be tripped over, please." Lorna advised as she grabbed a large army duffle bag full of random tees and disappeared inside the shelter's back room.
" Very well." Muttered the young man, his accent matching his sisters. Gabrielle smiled at him as he walked by and said something to him in a whispered manor. Prehaps she was telling him not to worry about her. Who knows. But, after that the youngest of the Valerious siblings began to sing a song softly to give the workers something to listen to while they worked.
Lorna reappeared to grab a small cooler from her truck, setting it by Gabrielle. Inside she had packed a few packets of blood incase Gabrielle and Rayner needed a refreshment. " You came prepared? Lorna, you're a genius." Laughed Gabrielle as she sat herself on top of the hard red cooler and watched the workers go about their business and Lorna direct them.

"Your an ass."
" And I suppose that you can claim to be much better, eh?"
" I will always be better than you." Ravyn flipped his long black hair over his shoulder, taking in a deep breath and letting it out in a huff that whirled with mist.
Devon's eyebrow raised at this. "Oh how wonderful." He rolled his brilliant silver eyes, brushing his dark red hair back with a strong hand. " You can play with fog, eh? I wouldnt stoop so low as to casually show off my power, even though it is a much more.. Offensive one. Unless you are willing to sacrifice blood for it?" He asked in a casually sarcastic tone, as if the words were a mere friendly greeting. His eyes squinted toward the sunlight that was directly behind this dark haired stranger. Too bad he wasnt actually a stranger to Devon.
This tall dark and lonely man was Devon's younger brother, a bastard to his fathers infidelity. Now he wished to taunt and tease Devon with the fact that he had killed the man that had 'donated' semen to become his father. Devon couldnt help but laugh in this man's face. "What a joke." He had said when they first met. " And here I thought he was already dead. Peice of shit managed to live this long, eh? Well, all I can say is too bad I didnt get to do it myself." He said shrugging. The look of confusion on Ravyn's face was priceless. He had hoped to break Devon's confidence, and make him attack. A justifiable reason to defend oneself so he could kill his half-brother. But that air of self assuredness had thrown Ravyn off guard.
" I will kill you as well." Ravyn spat out through gritted teeth. Devon shrugged and shoved his hands in his pockets. He leaned back, putting all of his weight on the heels of his feet.
"If you feel you must try. But do so be warned, eh? Your corpse will be unrecognizable once your fight with me is done." The tone was flat, but full of all the promise that the sentence held. His voice never dropped or rose, his easy laid back nature never changed. He just waited..and watched. This man claimed to be his brother, and if it wasnt for those Heise eyes, he never would have believed it. But those eyes were distinguishable by every means. Silver, reflecting like a sheet of cold hard metal. The same eyes that Devon saw in the mirror every day. The only difference? Devon's eyes were like liquid platinum, warm and beautiful, while Ravyn's held no life. Only hate.
" You-" Ravyn started angrily before being cut off. Devon just watched, the first time his face had changed its expression was only to twist his features into one of confusion. What had made him stop exactly? He moved his head only slightly to look behind him.
A woman, dressed in a white wifebeater shirt and tight fitting jeans, with long brown hair had jumped out of a blue truck. She began to talk to the owner of the building, the shelter no less. Devon let his eyes roam over that body that he knew so well. She was not alone it seemed as two others joined her. One that was dressed like her, and a girl that looked like she had been torn out of a different century and placed here against her will. She obviously refused to reform to the latest fashion like the other guy did. Devon's head turned back to Ravyn. " What intrest have you in her?" He asked, not letting him know that he knew her name.
Without a second hesitation, Ravyn moved past Devon to walk toward Lorna. Devon moved quickly to get in front of him. "Do not make me repeat myself." He said with one hand crushed into a fist, the fingernails biting into his palm. He would use his power now if he had to, if only to save Lorna.. If he had to. " You dont want to mess with her, that I can promise you. You wouldnt make it out of this town alive if you did." His voice started to raise, unintentionally, for now Ravyn would know what D.'s true weak spot was. Not their father at all, but Lorna.
Ravyn ignored this, his eyes still on Lorna. Why? Why did he take such interest in her? Was it for the same reason that D. had persistantly gone after her? Did all Heises have the same ideal women? Devon shook his head and let Ravyn go on ahead. Ravyn took the opportunity and took off at a faster pace. "Fool.. " Ravyn muttered as he made his way over to the group.
" Hello." He said in a soft and silky voice. He bowed to Lorna. "My name is Ravyn." His black hair fell over to cover his face, but his eyes still showed, and they stayed focused on Lorna. " May I be so bold as to ask your name?"
Devon grimaced. This was slightly on the painful side. He drug his finger through the holes that his fingernails had made, and began to swiftly draw the chains on his arm. After he was done with that, he walked toward the pair at with a long and easy stride. He knew that Lorna would see him behind Ravyn, and wondered how she would deal with this interloper while he made it to her side to deal with him once and for all.

" Eh?" Lorna looked at Ravyn with a raised brow and smiled as she saw Devon, now she would have found the younger of the two interesting as he was handsome. But he was a few days too late because Devon pretty much had her heart on a leash at this point of time. " I don't exactly see what my name means to you. But, if you really want to know, it is Lorna Russu." Explained the young woman as she hopped down from the truck bed. "But, you only had to ask this delightful young man. He knows me, don't you D." She asked pleasently smiling at him before dusting her hands off on her jeans.
" Lorna?" Called Rayner from the back of the larger trucks, dropping to the ground with a large box. " Oh? Hey." Greeted the half-breed as he looked both Ravyn and Devon over casually before looking back to Lorna. " Where did you put it?" He asked, hoping she got the hint by the fact his fangs had begun to jab into his lower lip.
" Over here dear brother, Come and regain your senses." Gabrielle called as she stood and popped open the cooler. Rayner strolled away, almost as if he were dying to get to his sister. Upon entering a ten foot area he was tossed a child pack of blood and given his salvation. " I'd rather not have to kill you in order to keep these people safe." The youngest said as she watched her brother's wild eyes.
His fangs sank through the plastic eagerly and Lorna watched from the corner of her eyes, slipping a playing card from her pocket and charging it with energy as a precaution. As he kneeled and drained the packet of it's contents, Gabrielle ran her fingers through his hair lovingly. The light began to cause her fingers to sizzle and she gritted her teeth in annoyence, pulling her hand back into safety beneath the black parasole.
" Rayner. Are you with us?" Asked Lorna, her voice showing she was slightly nevrous. There was silence as the figure remained rather humped over the now empty packet. The young man stood and tossed the empty vessel into a trash can and ran his wrist over his lips to remove any signs of blood. He looked up, his eyes that had become blood shot slowly cleared and he nodded.
" Yes, thank you for bringing it." He said before walking back to the box he had left and lifting it with ease he went back to work. Gabrielle closed the cooler casually and smiled, strolling across the small distance to stand beside Lorna. Their thick accents should have given some signs of what they were. But that scene just now would have given it away entirely, Gabrielle was sure of it.
" Devon, Rayvn, the young man you just saw is a friend of mine that helped build the Inn a could years back. His name is Rayner Valerious. And this young lady is his sister, Gabrielle. I want you to understand this now, Gabrielle was born a vampire where as her brother is a half-breed. If you dare to harm one hair on either of their heads...I will never forgive you. Understand this, these two helped out greatly thanks to their family, and they're not monsters. Unlike hollywood vampires, they do not rip the throats of humans. They drink donated blood." Lorna appeared very serious as she explained the situation. Gabrielle looked up from beneath her umbrella and smiled a greeting to both Devon and Ravyn.
" Hello." Her musical voice escaped her lips as she bent herself at the knee in a curtsey. She hoped that what Lorna said would explain the fact she was covered almost head to toe in clothing. It was odd these days to wear long gowns with long sleeves and a high sitting neck. So, Gabrielle was merely hoping this would shed a little metaphorical light on the subject.
" Now, what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you here, D?" Came a curious question from Lorna as she lead Gabrielle back to her shady sitting place where the young girl sang some more. Lorna stood near Gabrielle, trying to escape the rays of the sun and cool of a little. Meanwhile, Rayner clearly had no intent of ceasing his work as he helped unload box after box.
" He really should stop." Sighed Gabrielle as she watched her brother. " He'll get thirsty again." She finished, rather upset that Rayner was so engulfed in working. However, that was what Rayner did. He worked as much as possible and put his heart into it. Then by the end of the day he would probably drain about 4 packets of blood and sleep for a day straight.

Ravyn watched the bloodthirsty vampire, struggling to keep the look of disgust off of his face. That wouldnt make a good impression on Lorna now would it? His features stilled, and he showed no emotion at all to hide the rampaging thoughts in his head. "Your name means a lot to me, Lorna Russu. What else if not to just place a name to your beautiful face?" He said in that same silky smooth voice. Of course he was not interested in her per se, as he had his sights set on a curvatious blond that he had met at the park, but pretending like he did seemed to be the best course to get underneath his half-brothers skin.
By this time, Devon had shown up in time to see the vampire girls skin begin to burn in the sunlight as she stroked her brothers hair. He nodded to them both. " Truly a pleasure. Any friend of Lorna's is a friend of mine I hope." He came to stand beside Lorna."He is dangerous. Deciever, teller of lies,my dear do not beleive a word that comes out of his lips."
He ran a hand past her waist as he stepped by, whispering this information in her ear. It would be plain to her, but not to Ravyn, the patterns in blood that Devon had on that arm. He was careful not to touch the design to Lorna, or else he would ruin it and her clothes. The chain wrapped around in a loop, jagged razors edging each link in the chain, with a rounded sythe at the end. His drawing was immaculate, something that he still wondered about. He didnt have the time or the utensils to make it out as good as it had, but maybe that was just a facet of his power.
He stood behind Lorna, with the girl Vampire now to his left, and now with Lorna in front of him, with Ravyn just ahead of her. This way he could get a clear shot of him if he needed. "Lorna, babe, I know you can stay calm, your my girl , eh?" He chuckled softly and playfully sat his head on her shoulder as he glared viciously at Ravyn.
"You dont want to walk this particular path Ravyn.. Or should I call you brother, eh?" Devon's whole body was tense, just waiting on Ravyn to move. As a result of this tenseness, his senses were on high alert. He could smell the freshly drawn blood from the packet, he could hear the faint singing of Gabrielle. He could feel the soft carress of Lorna's hair on his cheek. But most of all, he could feel the hate coming off in waves from Ravyn.
Ravyn knew that now he was definitely outnumbered. If he attacked, Devon would attack, what power did Lorna have? And two vampires? Even if one was a half breed, didnt it make him more dangerous because he could freely walk around in the sunlight? Even so, that made Gabriella less of a threat because she couldnt. He stood up straight. Damn you Devon. You planned this all along didnt you? You caught me, and there is nothing I can do. You will pay. Now I will just have to play this off and get out of here in tact. Maybe if I used my powers? Thoughts raced through Ravyn's head. "I fear that I must bid my ado's and say my farewells. " He bowed deeply, keeping his eyes concentrated on Devon. He was not to be trusted. A thick fog rolled in. I will make my escape this time.. But in the end, you will die Devon. "Is there any way I can get a hold of you Lorna?" He asked sweetly, as he stepped into the fog and all but disappeared.
"Coward." Devon muttered. He held onto Lorna now, a strong arm around her waist. The one with blood on it still trained on Ravyn.

" The pleasure is mine." Gabrielle said in response to Devon. However her cold blue eyes watched Ravyn. She should step into the fog and allow the mortal to know that thne sun being blotted out by said fog was actually very helpful to her? Hmm, no, not now at least. It may come off as a threat and Gabrielle was truly in no mood to mess with mere humans. However, the young vampire took note of the tension between Ravyn and Devon. They didn't seem to get along as Gabrielle and Rayner did.
" Well, one thing does seem constant in you two. Both of you are smooth talkers. However, Ravyn, it seems that someone already has a hold of me. So, disappear with you little fog as I am here to donate and be helpful. Not wreck havoc." Sighed Lorna, waving her fingers at Ravyn.
That hand was attached to the arm and shoulder that Devon was resting his head upon. Slowly it found the back of his neck and gently stroked it calmingly. " Me, remain calm? It's what I do." Smiled Lorna as she pressed her cheek to his head and smiled. The need to kiss his temple washed upon her and Lorna's body moved without thought.
Rayner had reappeared by the door, however remained hidden by the frame as he pressed himself on the inside wall. His eyes that matched his siblings were peering out the door at the fog bank. " Sometimes I'm a little upset I'm half human. Because there is always that slim possiblity I might act in such a manor and attempt to cause trouble." Sighed the young man, casually stepping around the door frame and leaning himself by his sister.
The Valerious shared one thought, that Ravyn was a fool if he attempted to harm anyone in their vaccinity. The Vampire and her half-breed brother would probably allow him to see that just because they are rather tame, doesn't mean they wouldn't dismember someone for attacking a friend. The youngest of the two would probably be the more dangerous, as she may be frail in appearence, but she could move faster and in a far more quiet manor than her brother.
Anyone to attack when out numbered 4 to 1 would be a fool, however. Lorna hoped the young man had realised that and didn't do anything completely ridiculous that would and might end up with him dead or dying. One of her hands, not the one located at his neck, lay over Devon's with the thumb thoughtlessly running over his skin in a soothing motion.

Devon felt the kiss to his temple and sighed with a rush of relief. He almost shuddered when he felt her thumb carress the back of his neck. It released a lot of pent up tension. Too bad Ravyn hadnt started something, that would have gotten rid of his problematic half-brother right then and there. A discreet glance to Lorna's two vampire friends revealed that they were having the same thoughts as Devon had earlier expressed. " Do and die." He turned Lorna's face to his and softly kissed her lips.
" Me, remain calm? It's what I do."
Devon chuckled. "Dont I know it." He said in a low sweet tone. He leaned his head back, but left most of his lower right side pressed against Lorna. He turned his head slightly to look at Rayner and Gabrielle." Sorry about that, just met the man. He claims to be my father's son, and I am inclined to believe him." He nodded and hugged his arm around Lorna tighter. God he loved this woman. Her refusal of Ravyn had left Devon grinning. It was classic. She did it in a way to make Ravyn seem like an utter fool. Which he was, so it all worked out if Devon did say so himself.
He let go of Lorna and stepped back just a fraction of a step. "If you will excuse me, I had prepared for that fool to attack. I do not know about his intellegence if he is anything like my father." He spat out crudely. He shook his head, " Sorry again, I am letting my emotions get the better of me. I need to wash my arm off now, and if you would kindly find something for me to wrap up my hand?"
He opened up his fist and showed the four crescent moon shaped incisions that his nails had left in the tender skin. They had stopped bleeding, but around the immediate outside of the wounds, it was a deep purplish red, and the rest of his hand had turned a pale white. He had cut in too deep it seemed. Well, he was in a rush.

At the kiss, Lorna smiled and returned it as any sane woman would do. She looked at his hand and sigh, shaking her head a little. " You really were prepared, huh?" Asked Lorna as she took hold of his wrist and looked his hand over. He had cut deeper than he probably should have, this much was obvious. " Alright, come with me. We've got to clean up both your hand and your arm and then bandage your hand." Lorna advised with a smile. Releasing that hand she walked to the door and motioned with a hand for him to fallow her down the hall to the bathroom.
" It was not a bother to either of us. He is not as big a fool as I had first thought him to be. In all actuality he was smart to have left when he did. I don't exactly take to fighting, but will defend a friend if need be." Rayner explained, smiling to Devon. It was his way of reassuring Devon that Rayner thought of him as an ally. If Lorna was okay with the young fellow, Rayner and Gabrielle were just as fine with him.
" Do as Lorna says, however. Your health comes first. Rayner will finish unloading the trucks, don't worry Lorna." Gabrielle said, stepping eligantly from her shadows and strolling across the pavement. She smiled at Devon, meaning the same as her brothers had meant, and walked passed him towards the pick up truck. Pulling open the door, she leaned in and grabbed a small white first aid box.
" Lorna, they said they were out of first aid equipment. Take yours with you incase they don't have any bandages." Gabrielle called. Standing up right once more the small figure tossed the box with ease across the rather large distance. Lorna caught it and smiled.
" Thank you, Gabbie." Muttered the woman as she looked to Devon and motioned with one finger for him to fallow her, once more. " Come on now, my dear. It's not everyday that I get to play Doctor." She smiled, winked and disappeared inside the cool shelter. Rayner laughed softly, shaking his head as Gabrielle returned to her shadow.
" It seems our dear friend Lorna is fond of you, Devon. If that is the case, then you are in our good graces as well. Lorna is an old friend, and seems to be a good judge of character. If you need any assistance, you can find both Gabrielle and myself in the old mansion on the outskirts of town on that distant hill." Rayner explained, a finger pointing at the old and run-down looking building which was more well kept than it appeared. Gabrielle nodded her head slowly as an agreement before waving Devon off.
" Hurry now, Don't keep the lady waiting." The 15-year old vampire said, her voice a mocking kind of scold which danced with laughter.

Devon nodded. "So true. Maybe though, that was just self preservation instinct kicking in? Whatever keeps him alive a little longer. He intends to kill me. As if he had a chance, eh?" He let Lorna examine his hand. "Doctor?" His eyebrows raised at her wink. His feet started to move before his brain kicked back into gear. He turned back only to hear Gabriella speak. " I would hope she is fond of me. " He looked back at the door she had disappeared behind.
" Or else I would be in a whole heap of trouble for the feelings I have for her. And I thank you for the kind words. I do try to keep my priorities in a straight and narrow order, and Lorna just so happens to be at the top of that list, eh?" He walked back to the door, but turned completely around to face the two vampires. He bowed deeply. " Pleasure meeting you, friends, but alas, I would never keep a lady waiting." He looked back up, silver eyes glinting through bright red hair. He winked at them both as he turned on his heel and stepped into the shelter.
It was spacious, which was to be expected. Over near a door on the far side of the building, were a load of boxes piled high and seperated into two piles. D. guessed one for perishables, one for non perishables? It would make sense. He saw a flash of brown hair and the soft footsteps of Lorna as he turned around to see her. He smiled slightly, biting back the wince from the sudden sharp pain in his hand. It had been numbed before, Devon guessed the adrenaline made his body override the feeling. It felt like hot needles jabbing into his palm. All the blood was rushing to that area now, replacing what had been lost and that hurt.
He sat down heavily on a small chair, feeling it creak under the sudden weight. A fearful look showed that the chair was just protesting the strain, but would not collapse under it. He shook his head and held his right wrist in his left hand. "Come on Doctor Lorna.. Got any painkillers in that nifty little box of yours, eh?"

" Well, I'd have to say yes." Lorna spoke with a soft laughter fallowing as she placed the small plastic box on a counter and popped the small locks that kept it closed. Rifling through the objects she found a bottle of asprain and took two from the small white bottle. " Would you rather take them yourself, or must I assist you?" She asked casually placing the two small brown pills in the bottles cap and placed them aside until he would answer.
A hand grabbed the seat of a stool, dragging it across the floor, and Lorna settled herself between the counter and Devon. She pulled out several articles from that nifty little box beside her. The first of which was a small bottle of hydorgen peroxide, a few cotton swaps, a small tube of first aid cream, then a small roll of white gauze and some medical tape. She was tempted to pull out the white latex gloves and snap them over her hands, however she felt that would be too awkward.
" Well?" Began the woman grabbing the cap between two fingers and holding it up. " Would you prefer to take your meds by yourself? Or what?" She asked, allowing him to think up any possible way he could get the asprain from the cap. He could pick them up with his fingers and take them the normal way, have her place them in the mouth using either hand or mouth to mouth transfer. Either of the ways would work fine by her.

((Gargh... I missed some of the action I was planning to get into with this post-- I didn't have time to finish it when I was on.))
Normally Ellis didn't get too involved with other people when he was working. He preferred to keep his mind solely on the persons that he was serving, the ones in need of his help and undivided attention.
Of course, today was a little bit of an exception.
It was impossible to keep Renee and Danny on a leash. He had to keep a constant ear out for them, felt for them, making sure they didn't try to sneak off or do something mischievous. Well, at least, make sure that Renee didn't do something that they both would regret later. Danny was a bit more well-behaved around him.
The warm ladle felt good on his cold hands as he dipped into the hearty soup that the shelter was serving that day, doling it out into old, chipped donated bowls held by grubby hands with plastic spoons. It smelled pungent and spicy, but it was comforting and warm. The kind of thing that one would eat at home on a cold day.
Ellis knew each of the people at the shelter by name, and they had all taken to him. He paid attention to each and every insignificant person here, learned the smell, the feeling of their vibrations, their names, the sound of their voices, their problems, and was able to recognize them, and greet them, and ask about what was going on with their lives as soon as they approached. They were made to feel important by Ellis. He seemed to devote every small second of that time to their being so fully that it was almost unbearably flattering. In that second, he was that person's greatest friend, even though they hadn't known each other for that long. A glossy piece of black hair brushed ticklingly across his forehead, like a bug. Ellis pushed it back with a plastic-gloved hand and a smile at the direction where the line was moving, recognizing the pattern of steps that characterized the next person in line. He asked about the root canal he had gotten a few days ago. The man said that his mouth was still swollen, and Ellis smiled, telling him that it obviously made no difference to him.
Renee slapped a piece of cornbread on his plate with a frown obvious on her face. She wasn't too happy about her circumstances. Ellis always told her that she should be grateful that she only got a few hours of community service for what she did, especially with her kind of record. The claim of stupidity pretty much got her out of the accusation of her deliberately trying to blow up the chemistry lab by mixing volatile materials together; Renee was a damn good actress. There was no way that she shouldn't be satisfied and relieved with her sentence, except perhaps with a guilty conscience -- and Ellis made sure to tell her so. Of course, he couldn't expect her to believe him. She refused mainly just to spite people, to be rebellious just for the hell of it. Or at least, if she had some kind of a deeper meaning, she made sure that it didn't get out. In his personal opinion, Ellis felt as though she were just a tortured soul crying out for attention, but whenever he confronted Renee she would just throw her head back and laugh gaily, saying something about believing in life. He had stopped trying to understand her.
Danny was a different story. When he wasn't ogling at Renee (something that Ellis couldn't exactly watch out for) he was either sulking in his own private realm of despair and confusion or watching his idol and mentor talk to the people at the shelter as though they were his long-lost brothers just reunited. He envied the way that Ellis never seemed to doubt anything, never seemed to get overwhelmed or tempted or in any way caught up in a circumstance that would end up with horrible consequences. He had been given enough lectures to learn about rationalization, he thought, as he handed a hot cup of black coffee to the person who passed him in line. And he sure as hell had gotten enough consequences. Maybe he was just stupid. But there was something about thinking that he just had an aversion to, like an unpleasant piece of food that he was forced to eat. The drab scene in the shelter reflected in Danny's aviator's glasses, sending back a distorted image of disproportionate people with ballooned torsos and pinprick heads.
Ellis' keen ears picked up the minor altercation outside, and he cocked his head slightly, listening in the direction of the voices. He didn't usually like to intervene, but things like this weren't going to happen on his turf. Violence was one thing that he did not tolerate. Once one had experienced as much as he had, the repulsion would be well-rooted. He wanted to make sure that this wouldn't go too far -- there were always little tussles in an area such as this, but if things started getting worse, then he would definitely do something about it.
He didn't notice that Renee's interest was peaked. She hadn't heard something interesting all day, and a couple of the men really did have nice voices. Imagining the faces that accompanied her was fascinating and alluring. A giggle of anticipation for something interesting to happen escaped her lips, giving away the intense boredom that had hung over her head like a sword from a string and her desire for something big to happen. She quietly removed her hair net and adjusted her breasts in her bra to maximize her cleavage before slipping out of the tent as quietly as possible, hoping that Danny was too preoccupied with a man trying to communicate to him in Russian, asking him for some sugar. He looked flustered and was throwing his hands up into the air with resign, shouting something about a grandmother, the only word he knew in the language. She sniggered to herself at her easy getaway... and stepped out into a thick fog.
"What the...?" she voiced out loud to herself, not really caring about the volume of her voice now that she had gotten out of that hell pit of a community service job. She squinted, put her hands out in front of her, and started feeling around for a way to get out of here. A few minutes ago, when she had taken one of her many lunch breaks, this whole thing had not been here. And the weather didn't change that drastically so quickly. Looked like someone was screwing with nature. Hmph.
A little help here? Renee's sentence was a question, but had the quality of a demand. She was addressing her Doppelgaenger, that had, for the time being, been simply a silent space in her head. The feeling of sharing a stream of consciousness never totally went away, even when the other entity wasn't thinking. Renee wished she could do that. Then again, she was an actual person, and couldn't just fade into oblivion if she damn well felt like it.
Her Doppelgaenger snickered. Aw, if I helped you out, then it wouldn't be as fun. Besides, there are sure some nice people out here. You would definitely agree if you knew, it told her, its sweet, feminine mental voice just dripping with sarcasm. Renee shook her head, leaning against a convenient railing near the shelter, her vision still clouded with fog. She shook her blonde head violently, sending a mass of curls shaking into the air around her face before flipping it back over and out of her eyes. She hated the feeling of fog... so wet, so sticky, like sweat on her skin.
She nearly jumped out of her pants when Danny's blood-warm hands clamped around her shoulders.
"Dear GOD! Don't scare me like that, you f***ing idiot!" she screamed, before Danny covered her mouth so that the rest of her streams of curses were just a garbled, muffled mess.
He rolled his eyes, a movement imperceptible behind his large, dark glasses. The shades also enabled him to easily stare at her breasts without her noticing. God. Men's minds were so one-track these days.
"Shut up. Seriously. You must have no idea of how to really sneak out."
Renee stuck her tongue out, her eyes darting away from Danny's face to her sides, still enshrouded in fog. She scrunched up her nose in annoyance before the emotion melted into a mischievous, flirtatious sort of expression as she tickled underneath his chin.
"Well, Daniel. Why don't you give me an example, eh? See any of your little electrical body currents around here? I'm god damn anxious to get out of here and have some real socializing. How was the Russian man, by the way? He looked like he was coming on to you, to me. But since you don't speak the language, I guess you'll never know."
Danny frowned, even though the feeling of her finger sent an electric jolt of pleasure shooting from his jaw to his groin, and turned obediently to find something through the fog. He saw a few people, two of them who looked as though they were unloading something or other, a few others standing around. He didn't say anything to Renee, rather not keen on having her go bounding in the direction of an interesting possibility.
"Nope, nothing. Now let's go back inside. Aren't I the least bit interesting?"
"No."
((It's crap, but... whatevah. I'm not a deep thinker so early. And I wanted her to meet up with Ravyn in the fog or one of the vampires, but... yeah. I don't want to make this any longer. So do whatever.))

*heeh Gotcha! not gonna be the longest posty ever, but it gets to the point! XD*
Ravyn's eyes slitted. He had a keen vision, and of course he had to stay. In the thick fog he heard them talk about his intellegence, and his anger made his blood boil. Got to stay where I am, or else I will be killed.. That made him even angrier, to know that there was nothing he could do. His body remained still, not letting it swirl the thick fog and alert others to his presence. He slowly turned his head, taking in Rayner and Gabriella still unpacking. Pathetic slaves, becoming subservient to a human. Becoming friends with humans.. Friends.. HA! What a joke. No such thing. Only lies and deciet and hate, that is all that remained in the end. Vampires, living off of blood. Disgusting. Everything about them made Ravyn's skin crawl.
As his eyes remained trained on the vampires, a swift motion in front of him almost made him step back. He somehow remained still as the hand that had waved in front of him was suddenly gone. A girl's voice rang out as she her advancement was halted by another. Fortunately for Ravyn. He peered forth to see who had almost found him, and the fog was so thick that he was absolutely sure she could not see him. He had been right, a girl stood in front of him, only about a foot away, with a man behind her. Ravyn watched their interaction with a grimace.
He slipped forward just a step as the other man's eyes were torn from the girl. His hand ran over her arm, just barely grazing the soft hairs that graced her skin. It would feel like a butterflies touch, not one of a human at all. Black hair swirled around in the fog, becoming apparent as he leaned his face towards hers so she could see him. All that showed was his eyes, nose, and mouth, with a hint of his strong jawbone and high cheekbones. He tilted his head to the side. " I'll just bet you are the interesting one." He said in a soft whisper.

Devon watched the people set up for the supper hours, a long line full of food for the less fortunate. After this was all fixed up, he would volunteer to help. "Hmm? How to take it you say? Well I have a few ideas.."
Devon leaned forward, his good hand carressing her cheek as he kissed her lips. "Feed em to me, eh? Could I get that lucky?" He wiggled his eyebrows and shot her a look that showed her all of the things he wanted to do to her, but he refrained merely for the fact that they were in a public place. His hand clenched up as little jolts of pain shot through it, and he smiled. "But please do so in a hurry. Too bad you didnt have something a little more powerful, but that will do." He leaned over and picked up a bottle of water from a box he had seen before he sat down. He lifted it up, " To wash it down, eh?"

Gabrielle had kept her cool blue eyes turned to the fog. She of course had heard the girl and other boy conversing, but felt no need to actually admit to her presence. She was doing no harm as she sat and continually advised people where to put things. IF she could read minds, she would have laughed at Ravyn's thoughts. They were not slaves. They were merely helping their fellow social outcasts, people who were generally frowned upon by the masses. Vampires, Werewolves, creatures like that were seemingly always viewed as monsters and not for what they were. Some, of course, were blood-crazed and truly vicious. But the majorities found that violently biting someone without permission to be just plain rude! However, she couldn't read thoughts. Merely sway them more towards the side she wanted them on.
So, there sat Gabrielle. A living porclien doll stationed on a cooler in the shade, kindly directing some helpers where to go. Her brother would stop by and check her forehead for some reason, nod when he found everything was alright and then go right back to work. Yes, she seemed to have fallen ill in someway for a while. Prehaps it had been some bad blood, who knew. However, she seemed perfectly fine.
" You don't need to worry Rayner." Sighed the girl as she waved him away, as if saying that work came first.
"Yes, I do. You're my sister. I must keep you safe." The boy said with a warm smile before lifting another large box and heading inside with it. He returned. Now, unlike his sister. He hadn't caught the voices in the fog. He may have inhanced senses and strength, agility and the such but he wasn't as good as Gabrielle when it came to eavesdropping. Besides, like all men, Rayner had a rather one-tracked mind.
***Meanwhile***
Lorna smirked at the wiggling brows, and exactly what they suggested, but took hold of the pills. Placing them at the tip of her tongue she brought her face to Devon's and kissed him, slipping the pills into his mouth before parting a few seconds later. " Now, take your meds and give me that injured hand." She ordered, pointing a stern finger at him. She gently took hold of the hand and grabbed a few cotton swaps to dab at the blood.
" You have to be more careful. Nurse Lorna won't always be here to help you out." Sighed the young woman playfull as she tossed some blood soaked balls of cotton into the trash and examined the cuts closer. " My poor D..." She muttered and kissed his palm near the cuts gently. Reaching for the peroxide, she left his hand in her lap and drenched a swap in the clear liquid.
" Now, this may sound cliche but it's true. This might tingle." She warned playfully as she held his hand with one of her own and slowly brought the swap to his cuts. One cut at a time would be swapped and disinfected to avoid many things. Ringworm, Infection, or anything else he could get by having open cuts. Lorna didn't exactly feel like going to a hospital.
" Maybe when all is said and done, I'll seal the bandage with a kiss, hmm?" Teased Lorna, gingerly dabbing at the first of the small cuts upon his palm.

Renee was beyond the idea of shock, having been numbed by Danny's unexpected appearance. Accompanied with the slight touch she barely felt, like a tickle of a breeze on her skin that raised goosebumps up on her arms, was the face of a truly beautiful man from the fog. It was like he just materialized out of nowhere, a god taking form of a shadow through mist, with no real substance outside of the claustrophobic clutches of air thick enough to be touched, molded, cut with a knife. It was almost like a ghostly apparition merging into her surroundings, floating on nothing, whispering right by her ear. Hm. The voice really did hint at the face it belonged to. And what a mellow voice... She looked up through her long, dark eyelashes at the newcomer, catching his eyes for a brief instant before the moment was shattered when Danny shoved her aside angrily.
"What the hell do you think you're doing, you creep?" he demanded, pointing an accusing finger at Ravyn. "Just coming out of the fog like that, scaring the shit out of us! You gonna learn some manners or what, bud?" His sunglasses slipped down his face slightly with the violent shaking of his head, and he hurriedly pushed them back up. One arm was strategically positioned in front of Renee, like a feeble barrier between her and Ravyn. He didn't like this guy. Not one bit. Something about his eyes... god. It made him uneasy. His entire body was tensed, like a coil pulled back and ready to spring at full force. Renee was laughing, her head thrown back to the sky that she could not see. Without stopping her motion, she took Danny's arm away from her breasts (whether he realized that it was there or not) and flung it down to his side. He turned suddenly and glared at her angrily, remembering the black eye that had been on her face for days earlier. The swollen blue skin was nearly entirely healed -- one could only see the damage if one looked closely, scrutinizing her face while possessing the knowledge of exactly what should be there.
"Don't be an idiot, Renee," Danny growled protectively. She rolled her eyes with an exaggerated sigh.
"I think he's perfectly harmless. I mean, he has recognized the obvious. That I am the interesting one." She waved him away. "For someone who sure doesn't think about consequences you seem to be quite keen on the idea that this stranger is going to hurt me in some public place."
In some f***ing foggy public place, Danny thought, but didn't say anything. He averted his eyes from Renee and the newcomer, not denying the feeling of betrayal. It was like another rejection all over again. But what was he supposed to do? Just appease her? Let her do whatever the hell she wanted and screw up her life?
"By the way, I'm Renee." Danny cringed at the introduction. One more thing the stranger knew. Next she would be spilling out her innermost secrets. Just a name, huh. Yeah. Right. He refused to speak, instead staring at his shoes.

Devon smiled breifly at Lorna after she gave him his medicine in a way that most nurses should be taught. He would just bed that ten times more of the patients would take their medicine that way. He chuckled. " Ah, but dont you know Lorna, that any time your lips touch my skin, it always makes me feel better. So kiss away..anywhere.." He said in a whisper. "After you are done, I was going to see if they needed any help serving..They seem to have lost two helpers..Mind if I go?" He asked, looking down at his hand, then back up at Lorna.
Ravyn's eyes flashed ,with a light that shouldnt have been there in the thick fog, the second that Renee's eyes met his. " Nice to meet you." He said in a subtle tone. His eyes narrowed at Danny. "Creep?"
The second that the word escaped Ravyn's lips, he thinned the fog around the three of them and stepped forward completely. His tight black shirt outlined his body, and the matching black straight leg jeans fell over black well shined shoes. His entire stance spoke of royalty, and his air of self confidence would make a wealthy man cower. " Hardly." He flung his raven black hair over his shoulder, letting his eyes come to rest once more on Danny. " I am a mere passerby, and I was almost hit when you grabbed her. She didnt seem at all willing to your touch either. I have manners, I chose who gets to witness them, and who do not deserve the honor. My name, is Ravyn Heise. Not bud." He ended the entire conversation with Danny then, and focused his attention on Renee. " Good afternoon, Renee. I, like I said, am Ravyn. It is a pleasure to meet you."

" When I am done, feel free to go and help." Lorna laughed, a smile on her face as she finished cleaning the final cut. Taking the gauze, and some medical tape she managed to make a strip-like band-aid that covered the cuts on his palms alone. With a smile, she kissed the center of the gauzy bandage abd then his forhead. " I think I'll save the kissing for another time, darling. Now. Run along." Removing herself from the stool she began to pack up the first aid kit, her back to him as she worked.
" I do hope there isn't any violence. Whatever is happaening in that pointless fog seems rather heated by the way those people are talking." Sighes Gabrielle, tapping her finger on her parasol's handle. Saphire eyes had landed on the fog, watching it rather intently. She honestly was not going to allow anyone to start any form of violence at a shelter which was meant to give people a place to rest and feel safe. That merely wasn't fair. The young figure grabbed hold of a packet of blood, and sank her long fangs into it gently, drinking the blood in a very dignified manor. Her brother had been hungry, and working had put him in such a frantic state. Generally he drank the blood in the same manor Gabrielle was. As if it were a juice box, she leaned her back on the wall and sipped with grace.
" Toss me one, Gabrielle?" Asked the thickly accented Rayner. A packet of blood was tossed into the air and caught with ease as it traded hands. Rayner came to rest beside his sister, sinking his own teeth into the plastic wrapper. " Thank you." Came the kind words as the young man squatted and slowly drained the plastic bag of it's red liquid.
