"... What has happened?... The blue skies, greens of nature, the prosperity we have so known to love... where has it gone?" This is what Vaan thought every day of the very war that shook the world into a violent state. There were many ways of which he could have been useful in the early months, but refused to believe it all was happening. He only wished that everything could simply end, just like that, like in some popular anime... sadly, this was real life...
At one point in the war, Vaan had snapped. The spirit of which resided within himself broke itself free and took complete control of his conscience. His skin grew paler, his eyes then glaring with a pericing red, and a wicked smile upon his face. "Shall we play again?" It had said to Vaan. "You know you need me, don't hold me back..." Vaan then let himself into a sleep, leaving his body's actions to the spirit...
In the next coming months were devastating as Vaan's body utterly destroyed many troops whom wished to face him, draining them all of their spiritual energy, killing them on the spot, for without that enrgy it is them who did not exist, their bodies just part of the background.
It had eventually gathered enough of the energy to do some real damamge, and go further into the battle, killing many troops by simply touching them, and in some cases, by simply staring at them, putting them into a never-ending nightmare that would turn their brains to mush.
At tis point, one would believe Vaan had not existed, but he was still there, lying dormant within the body, too afraid to come out into the world of which he did not like. It seemed as if the spirit would possess his body forever, but sooner or later, many of the gifteds realized the danger he was, even to themselves, and battled him to the point of which the spirit had no choice but to become dormant once more, as its energy had been heavily depleted during that very battle, waking Vaan.
Vaan was terribly injured physically, and had almost become mentally dumb, but as he was left to rest for weeks and months at a time, he slowly regained strenght, and began to remember everything again... unfortuantely for him, though, he had also gained the spirit's memories, of the many murders he had commited in Vaan's absense. He did not yet want to talk about the spirit, and even after the war, never mentioned anymore of the spirit besides this quote: "Your worst nightmare."
Vaan today is now able to live peacefully in the new town of Dotado, and has redeveloped hiscalmness and serenity. All was well...
