*An explosion lit up the night, amazingly right after a scream peirced the ears of all that lived inside of Cassis Academy walls...*
A body hung on the wall. Arms spread wide, nailed to the wooden planks. Legs hung loosely and dangled almost four feet off of the ground. A head of jet black hair fell forward lifelessly...
This is how Principal Terri was found, by a student that had needed to ask her for advice.
Cassie knocked on the door lightly. "Ms. Terri?..I .. I need to talk to you..Are you in there?" She asked as she tried the doorhandle. It was unlocked. Knowing Ms. Terri though, this was common. Cassie opened the door, slowly sticking her head through before the rest of her body. Not even Inu could see what was inside. He didnt need to. He was wrapped around her arm, with his head on her collarbone, he felt her heartbeat speed up, her muscles tense, and her sharp intake of breath preluded only one thing. At that moment, Inu wished he could cover his ears. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Cassie ran throughout the building screaming that the principal had been murdered. Many came to see what the commotion was about, but some stayed in bed, not bothering to even get up. That was when the first attack hit Cassis. The building shook violently, all who were standing fell or hit the walls heavily. Rocks tumbled loose from the structure, hitting some of the students, killing or injuring them severely. All people of Cassis woke immediately, crowding the streets, trying to get a look at the source of the commotion.
Tanks, planes, cars, men...The entire military it seemed had been in wait for the principal's planned passing. A man on the inside, one that had not even been suspected, had been sent to kill her once they found out that she was smarter than they had planned. She was inquiring about missing students to the people that knew something about it, or were partaking in actually capturing the students themselves.
The gifteds fought, using all the power they had to defend the town. Fire against guns, water against knives, forcefields to stop bombs from above, people with super strength to fight off the men by hand to hand combat once all ammunition was gone. But the gifteds began to tire, and even though there were many more to replace them, their powers werent the same, some not even suitable for the job they had been given. Some were not strong enough to keep up the defense. Men broke through, attacking the weaker gifteds first..
Tanya..a girl from Cassis, stood by with a smile on her face. She could stop it of course..but why? All of her competition..down the drain..or..six feet under of course..She could stop time, for Christ's sake..stop the war? ...Nah. She stood back and watched it from a good viewpoint. A gifted who knew of her power..and of her negligence for the town and lack of compassion, killed her while she watched the town suffer greatly. The one salvation, gone for lack of morals.. Thus was the one weakness of Cassis and its inhabitants..Pride.
The feelings of the gifteds toward one another changed dramatically during the war. Friends made where enemies had been, enemies forgotten for the creation of a new target..The town itself grew closer, and fought with each other when some would have rather fought against each other. New respects made for the people that had shown no caring became the heroes, saving weaker gifteds and women and children that could not save themselves..
The war ravaged the town, buildings wrecked by either the gifteds powers, or the militaries weapons. The streets no longer remained smooth pavement, with raises and holes and huge cracks peppering it everywhere. The school was demolished from the inside out by agents sent by the government that had been in position, waiting for the signal to attack. They killed many, and all but destroyed the school.
There were people that had planned an uprising before the war began, what happened with them has yet to be revealed, for all the townspeople could think of after the war was rebuilding, and burying the dead.
