No time for fun right now. Can't think of anything else I'd rather do than take off for that carnival and not look back. I could ask to join them! That is what I could do! Wait...do they travel? No. Damnit! Of course not..Damnit Daedalus what kind of wussy are you! You don't even know if she is or not! What if she isn't? You will be making such a big deal out of nothing! But what if she is! You can handle this! You are a grown man, you make good money, you have an apartment..
You need to grow up and take responsibility! Wasn't it you, yourself, that wanted the kid when she first said something? Your heart skipped a beat and all you could think was a little boy or girl of your own. And now you are thinking of running away, not confronting her over it. What if she forgot the test? What if she didnt and it was positive. This is what: He would take her in his arms, and hug her.. Tell her everything will be alright.. And that he would always be there. And he would be damnit! He was a man of his word! Yes. He wanted a child of his own! And he couldnt think of anyone else he would rather have it with than Hayleey. Beautiful Hayleey. She is so sweet.. and that body...
Once coming to a resolution, Daedalus was finally able to shake himself out of his reveries. He was so consumed by thoughts he had been pacing back and forth and had made a smalll path in the grass. He looked up and saw people giving him wide berth. They were glancing at him warily and quickly looking away when their eyes locked with his. His eyes were smoldering after scolding himself for nearly half an hour, and his facial expression was hardly amused. No wonder no one was coming around. He looked like he was about to murder someone.
Daedalus picked up the sound of someone walking to him, turned excitedly, but was met with some random woman of which whose path he was in the way of. He moved aside, letting her go by him and saw her car parked right next to where he was standing. He shrugged and walked toward the entrance of the "Walk". It was quaint, pretty. It was somewhere you didnt have to worry about getting splashed by passing cars after a heavy rainfall, or worry about the loud noises and honks that those cars made often. He looked down, seeing little food vendors placed strategically here and there, and street performers that found they made quite a profit here. Men liked to take their girlfriends and wives here, and always impress them by giving large tips to these performers as a show of their wealth.
He breathed in heavily, smelling the butter of popcorn, the sweet tang of cotton candy, and a slight hint of sulfur from the man breathing fire just a few yards ahead of where Daedalus stood. The sun shone brightly on Daedalus's head, lighting up his white-blond hair and making him squint his eyes to see ahead of him. He stood tall among the crowd, wearing a form fitting black button up long sleeved shirt and black slacks. He would have looked very formal if the shirt had actually been tucked in, and the top button done, and the sleeves hadnt been rolled up to mid-forearm. His hair had gotten longer now that it had been three months since him and Hayleey had last talked about her being pregnant, and he had let go of cutting his hair shorter. He remembered having long hair and missed it. It reached his chin now, and matched perfectly with his misty blue eyes.
He shook his head and ran his hands wearily through his hair, realizing that he had been tugging on it while thinking and he had locks sticking out rebelliously from the side of his head. He smoothed it down and looked around, trying to find somewhere to sit. He schooled his expression to one less menacing, and managed a slight crooked smile at the small boy passing by. The child quickly pressed hisself to his mother's leg and buried his face. The mother looked ready to reply to this when she saw the look of contrition on his face and she bit back her words. A consoling look for one that obviously knew his troubles, and the woman tapped her head. She could read his thoughts... ... Great.. just great. She smiled and walked away patting her son's head.
No sooner had she walked away , Daedalus instinctively looked up at the great clock that was located in the center of the parking lot. Its face read two o'clock right as the bell inside of the tower rang resoundingly, informing all those not facing the clock, of what time it was. She was supposed to be here by two thirty, but Daedalus of course was pacing around his house and decided that it would just be better for him to get fresh air and came here early. Now he waited to see her, for that was one woman he could pick out of a crowd.
