Alright, all a special thanks to Deon who has written out and thought about any questions that members might have, and the answers to most if not all questions that will be asked XD! Thanks Deon!!
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How old does my character have to be?
A. Any age is acceptable, though I don't know how fun it would be to have an infant as your character. The people from Cassis will be ten years older than when they first started, so generally in their mid-twenties to early thirties.
2. What is God-Moding or Power-Playing?
A. God-moding and power-playing are very similar. They both basically mean that you're controlling someone else's character. An example of GMing or PPing:
Katja threw a bat at Billy's head and smashed his face in.
Katja is writing the post. Now, she has the ability to throw the bat, but not to dictate what happens to Billy's character. He didn't even get the chance to dodge it or do his special ninja moves and hurl it back at her without ever moving a finger.
Now, to correct this problem, one could say...
Katja threw a bat towards Billy's head with the intent to smash his face in.
She just couldn't actually DO it to Billy or else that would be one of the BAD DOUBLE-LETTERED INITIALS.
3. Where do I post my character to be accepted?
A. You always, always, always have to post in the character registration board. The application format is in there. Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER post your profile in the "Accepted Character's" boards whether they are male or female, or IT. Whatever. It will be moved when accepted by the staff. Just post your character directly in the registration board--not in any sub-boards, except possibly the "characters under construction" board.
4. May I roleplay with my character before it gets accepted?
A. No. Please don't. Please please please please please. It makes it really sticky for us.
5. How do I know when my character is accepted?
A. A moderator will tell you on your character application, and it will be moved.
6. May my character have the same power as another character?
A. Of course it's best if they don't, however we are all human and have a limit to our creative capabilities. However, if we have two bajillion water-controllers, I'm sure that you could come up with something else, or at least put a unique spin on it.
7. What's our policy on romance (as in, how far we can get)?
As was stated in the rules, this board is PG-13 and will not go over. Fade-outs are useful, but we're not going to have characters sexing each other up all over here. Tiff suggested PMs if you want to use that.
8. Are we allowed to kill characters here, whether they are ours or other people's?
A: It's undeniable that killing a character may be needed. On Cassis it was often used to get rid of unwanted characters (though we're not condoning murder here... particularly in real life... XD). However, if you are killing another person's character, be sure that he or she wants his or her character killed off by you, particularly because, well... if he or she didn't, that's just unethical. And mean. And god-moding. Which we know is bad.
9: What is a Mary-Sue/Gary-Sue/Gary-Lou?
These are basically the "perfect characters." Characters who are so beautiful, flawless, everyone loves him/her, rich without working, great at everything when first trying, have no known weaknesses or character flaws, et cetera.
However, this can also go to the opposite extreme. If someone is super-goth, everyone hates him or her, the world is just against him or her for no reason, he or she is really a good person on the inside and is a cruel product of society, is great at everything but goes unrecognized and is hated for his or her accomplishments, beauty, whatever, has a tortured past, and just constantly and annoyingly angsts out beyond any normal person's normal angst-outs.
Note: This does not mean that we don't like angsty characters with bad pasts. But there are ways to do it tastefully, and there are ways to screw everything up.
Regardless of what type of Mary-Sue or Gary-Sue or whatever you have, they are really a big no-no. These kinds of people don't exist in real life, and they're really hated in roleplays... and in general.
10. What exactly is Cassis?
It was a school for the gifted that was bombarded by the government trying to harness the powers the students possessed ten years ago. Cassis City was renamed Dotado. More information in the storyline.
11. I'm kind of new to roleplaying. Is that okay?
Of course it's okay! We're truly at all sorts of levels over here, but we do ask that proper grammar and spelling, et cetera, is used while in character. We don't want any l33t speak, or non-use of punctuation and capital letters, et cetera. Just use common sense. You'll be able to learn from all the great people we have on this site in no time, but being a beginner is no excuse for "takin lyk dis when in caracter, omg."
12. Who should I talk to if I have a problem?
Tiff, the admin here, would be the best choice. But depending on the problem, one of the moderators could most likely also help.
