" What the hell were you thinking!?" A woman growled into her bluetooth. Her cellphone was tucked inside the pocket of her blazer. It was a solid black blazer which came to her waist in a very formal fashion. It was rare to see someone with such outrageous red hair to wear such formal attire. " You're really one of the most idiotic employees! You actually cancelled those contracts?" Maeve snarled, a look of upmost disgust upon her face. It was obvious that whoever she was on the phone with had terminated some contracts because of Maeve's lack of presence at the main office. This, clearly being a stupid reason, had infuriated Maeve and would result in a serious ass-chewing.
" Put Ramon on the phone. No! Don't apologize. Shut up-seriously, just shut up and put Ram-<b>Put Ramon On, Damn it!" Maeve's voice rose with anger as she turned the steering wheel and parked her black BMW Beamer in the parking lot of a small office building she had rented out. There was a sigh as her manicured nails tapped inpatiently on the leather steering wheel. This revealed that her nails were black tipped with a blood red and looked rather wonderful with her whole attire.
" Ah! Ramon, finally someone with an IQ. Listen, I want you to call those three and apologize perfusely. Offer them a slight discount if you have to. We need them back." Maeve explained, removing keys from ignition and slipping them into a black sleek purse. A well placed 'Uh-Huh, 'Yeah', or 'Okay' was all she said as she popped her door open and stepped out of the car. It revealed the rest of her outfit. She wore a knee-length, form fitting, black skirt with white pinstriping. Along with that her feet were in a pair of black pumps she had recently bought. They were black, faux leather, embossed with a reptile pattern, and had a 4-1/2" heel to them. Peep-toe and slingback-strap styling made them look rather professional and still sensual.
" Thank you, Ramon. Please handle that at your desk and put the bafoon back on. Yes, mhm...Alright. Thank you again, Ramon." Maeve breathed, happy to have settled some of the things. She smoothed her skirt, closed her car door and began the short treck around the front of her car towards the small office. She looks at the gloden snake-shaped ring found on her ring finger, smiles, and continues her trek.
Upon reaching the glass doors, they swing open, held by a young man in a suit with well kept black hair. " Welcome, Ms. Sedima." The young man greets her and allows her enterence. Her heels echo as they make contact with the white tiles that cover the floor. The place was all white, wine red and gold in colors. It looked very sophisticated with several desks for a few employees that were made of dark mahogany. A sitting area was to the left of the doors, consisting of a small wine red couch, a glass coffee table and two wine red arm chairs opossing the couch.
" Yes, Cora? Before you terminate a project talk to Ramon! He understands what can and cannot be done without my say-so as he has worked for me for seven years. Understand. Alright, don't do it again." Came the tearn words of Maeve as she strolled between the four desks and to the glass spiral staircase which lead to the second floor. The first room she saw was a sort of 'break room' with a small kitchen and table. These weren't as expensive as the rest of the building but the employees loved them. A lone bathroom was up there as well.
" Bye." Muttered the woman as her finger pressed the center button of her bluetooth head set.Meave grabbed hold of a large dark mahoghany door's golden handle and pulled it open to reveal her office. It had a large rich colored, wodden desk, featuring a sleek black laptop, a phone, and whatever else you would find on a desk. Before it was a sitting area consisting of two sleek and long red couches much like the ones on the first floor. One on either side of a coffee table with a glass top but beautiful golden legs which swirled in a wonderous manor.
Maeve sighed and unbottoned her blazer, sliding it off her shoulders and hanging it upon a golden coat rack near her desk. A small counter area was found to the left with a large black, metal, cabinet beside it. Inside the cabinet was actually a refridgerator and the left door was a regular cabinet for glasses and such. A sink, shaped like a bowl, made of frosted-glass sat atop the black marble counter top. Maeve placed her purse beside that very sink before turning and seating herself in the large revolver chair behind her desk.
Maeve slide the sleek laptop to face her, and slowly opened it. After a while she was going over some numbers when a knock was heard. A very heavy sigh soon fallowed and Maeve looked up from her work. " Yes?" She asked, curious as to who was being so annoyingly polite.
" Ms. Sadima, You have a visitor. She says you went to school with her. Her name is Carmela Ikaris?" The voice sounded tired, worried and somewhat frightened. It was as if he was telling the king that his favorite concubine had up and left because he wasn't able to 'get it up'. At that thought, Maeve choked down her fit of laughter and cleared her throat.
" Send the brat in."
" Maeve, I'm not a brat anymore." Sighed a familiar voice as the door swung upon. Standing taller than Maeve remembered and looking more like a girl than ever before, was Carmela Ikaris. When that 20 foot void field engulf Maeve, she could feel her powers slowly slip away. Well, it wasn't like it was anything unexpected. If Carmela was around, that was bound to happen.
" You will always be a brat to me, Carmela." Maeve retorted. She saved whatever she was working on and closed the laptop, sliding it to the left side of her desk. " What is it? Why do you now suddenly wish to see me?" Asked Maeve as she crossed her arms over her high-necked, white, satin blouse.
" Why? Because I have heard the news of your marrying Ven. I figured I should at least congradulate you in some way." Carmela said, sitting herself comfortably on one of the couchs. Her blonde hair had been left loose on this fine day and she wore a purple tee shirt with a V-neck to go with a pair of short jean skirt, and black knee-high pumps.
" Is that Sarcasim I hear?" Mutters Maeve as she stands and approaches her fridge. Opening it she pulls out a square, glass, bottle of brandy. She places it on the counter, grabs a tray of icecubes and two small round glasses. " Care for some?" Asks Maeve as she places to cubes of ice in her personal glass and fills it half-way with the liquor.
" Water is fine." Carmela replies and watchs as the woman fills the other glass with water and returns anything that needed fridgeration. " And now, you didn't hear any Sarcasim, Mae-Vae. I came in all sincerity to congradulate you and Ven. However it seems my once important friend is not here, so tell him I said so." The young of the two says with simplicity. She takes her glass, sipping at the ice water.
" Very well. If that is all you wanted, you can leave if you want." Maeve says, sipping at her brandy as she settles herself in the opposing chair. Mae-Vae? She hasn't called me that in a very long time. Still a brat... Malicious thoughts for a dangerous woman. However, they were only that. Thoughts.
" No, I'd like to chat a little more. Pester you, keep you from earning money."
" That my dear, Child, is unstopable. I don't have to come here, I just do to see how my company is doing. I'm on vacation." Maeve replied, her eyes narrowed upon the girl.
" Oh? And what is this I hear about you becoming a mass murderer? Also going on death row and believed to be 'dead'?" Questioned Carmela as if uneffected by the cold treatment she was recieving. Hell, from the begining these two hadn't exactly been buddy-Buddy. Carmela wasn't expecting much from Maeve.
" You heard about that?"
" How couldn't I? Hurricane's leave small trails of distruction than you do." Sighed Carmela, shaking her head. Maeve laughed, nodding her head slowly. " So it's true? Naughty, Maeve. Oh well, it appears our government is too stupid to realize that you are the only Maeve Sadima. Eh, who cares. It's not like I'm going to turn you in or anything." Continued Carmela as she drank more of her water.
" Well, I do suppose I do leave rather large paths. But, are you seriously just wasting my time? I have more important things to do than talk with a brat such as yourself. I have family to contact and plans to make for Ven and I's wedding."
" I don't doubt that. Would you be angery if I was there?"
" I personally don't care who shows up. It's open to the public really, so if you want to go right ahead."
" I think I will..." Carmela replied, nodding her head slowly. " Prehaps at the part where they ask for objections I'll stand up and tell the world about who you are and what you did." A wicked smirk came across Carmela's lips. But the illusion that she would ruin the wedding was shattered almost instantly by that cold and heartless laugh.
" Do you think that would stop me. I'll have one of my delightful men for hire kill you when you sleep. What a pathetic attempt at black mail!" Maeve was roaring with laughter. In fact, she had to put her glass down before she dropped. Yes, she found it that funny.
" Hmph. That would be hard, as I don't generally sleep." Carmela muttered, unimpressed with the reaction. " Well, whatever. I guess I can't really do much damage here."
" If you distroy my place of business I will have to press charges." Maeve explained cooly as she waved the girl away. " Away with you if you're done."
" You know me, Maeve. I'm never really done." And with that Carmela disappeared, leaving the way she had come in. There was no time to reply, no time to make some smart ass retort. And that, more than anything else that Carmela had done, really irked Maeve the most. Which, clearly, was what she aimed for because upon leaving the small office building, Carmela was seen laughing and smiling as she strolled away.
" Put Ramon on the phone. No! Don't apologize. Shut up-seriously, just shut up and put Ram-<b>Put Ramon On, Damn it!"
