Rete grinned at Tibarn and stood up abruptly and looked up at teh sky then back at him. He watched his face intently to see what he was thinking. He knew facial expressions played a part in talking, showing: anger, sadness, and happiness. "Well, Ti-barn... I wanna fly with you one day... I want to see what you see all the time... I don't get to fly... often!" He said with hopes and thoughts flying in his head. Rete' looked back at his mother as she just looked at him. She smiled. "Your a... King?" Rete's eye's lit up at that moment.
"Wow, Your home seems really wonderful to be at... I really hope that one day, you'd be able to show Rete' and myself something from your home... he seems really interested it and I would love to see a place that hasn't been touched by time..." She spoke slowly at the last of her sentence, knowing that alot of time had passed on this place. Dotado.... the war taking such an effect over it, causeing great changes in everything. The land, people, animals... even just aspects of the world. Time really wasn't on their side here in Dotado.
"Mommy and me will visit you one day... but... I don't know where to go? Do you mommy?"
"Well, I'm sure that Tibarn would be kind enough to show us the way, whenever we get to see his wonderful land!" She told him and passed a grin towards Tibarn.

(OOC: I've thought of a way to bring Tylor in; I'll do so on my next post ) Tibarn nodded vigorously. "Absolutely! What kind of host would I be if I didn't give my guests directions to my home, eh? A terrible, failure of a host! That's what I'd be!" The Laguz stood and stretched his wings. Almost... he'd almost accumulated enough energy to give Rete' his wish. He couldn't help but notice though, how Ria had spoken of the passage of time. She didn't have to say it; Tibarn knew she was talking about the transformation of Cassis into Dotado. And truly, the hawk king burned with questions about how the utopian city he'd heard about had met it's ruination. Talk of a great, senseless war abounded, but Tibarn had never been one to trust rumours. He prefered to hear the story straight from the mouth of one he could trust. Someone like Ria. Tilting his head to one side, Tibarn began, "Ria, could tell me exactly how..." He suddenly shook his head. "No, no, nevermind. Don't worry about it." Speaking of the past would probably bring up old, painful memories, and Tibarn would hate to be the cause of frown on her pretty face... However... A brilliant white light suddenly covered Tibarn's body, hiding his form from view except for the general outline of his body and wings. But the outline melted until it looked completely different, the outlined form now one belonging to a bird. As the light faded away, Tibarn spread his wings and stood proudly, a brown, scarred-face hawk the size of a small horse in place where a winged man had been a moment before. He opened his beak and said, "Care for a lift?"

Ria passed a grin to Tibarn yet again hearing his reply to Rete's complete dictionary of questions to ask a stranger. Rete seemed to jump with joy hearing his reply, as he clapped his hands just once and throwing them to his side in anxiousness. Just as Tibarn had stood, Rete' did the same and leaned on Ria as she wrapped her arm around his legs to keep him near her. "So, Tibarn... you seem to really like kids don't you?" She felt like any questions she had were already asked by Rete', so she had to come up with something for a conversation.
"What was that? Come on.. you can ask me anything... honestly, it's not like I'd shock you or something...! "She managed a laugh thinking about giving his feathers a static cling type of look, but her words halted when the light came present. Instantly Rete' bent down and nuzzled his face into Ria's chest to keep his eye's protected. Ria hugged him slighlty with yet another giggle as Ria saw what had happened. "Rete', surely your not afraid of Tibarn now are you?"
"No.. of course not momma.. but... " Ria tapped his shoulder and he looked up at her then noticing that she was nodded in Tibarns direction, he leaped with joy hearing him. "Now? You mean Right Now? REALLY?" His childish nature began to take effect again as he quickly ran over to Tibarns new form he had previously been afraid of. Ria stood up and walked over to her son.
"How do you want to do this Tibarn..." She asked as her words were cut off.
"How do I get on? Where do I sit? Is it like riding a horse.. only bird like? huh?" Rete's face was enlightened with energy.

(OOC: I forget what I was gonna do with Tylor X.x;; I'm so sorry! It's not much of an excuse, but I've had a lot on the go recently...)
Seeing Rete''s reaction and Ria's acceptance of the rather forceful change of topic, Tibarn had to stifle a sigh of relief. Discussing why he liked children would make him fidgety, and he truly didn't want to ask the wonderful woman anything that could potentially cause her and wonderful son undue sorrow. Taking his other form and offering the boy a ride seemed the most surefire way to deflect those questions.
Tibarn couldn't help but laugh at the enthusiastic Rete' and his understandably-worried mother. "Ha ha ha! Here now, let me help you, young one." Crouching on the grass, and using his wings and beak, Tibarn managed to help finagle the boy onto his broad back. "Not to worry, Ria; I do this all the time when one of my fellow hawk's are injured. There. Now, lay on your belly along my back, that's right; let your legs rest in the crook of my wings. Now, wrap your arms around my neck. There! All set! Hold on tight, young Rete', and here we goooooo...!"
The laguz king launched himself and his small passenger into the air with a few strokes of his powerful wings. He took them up and around the perimeter of the lake, but was always mindful of staying in sight of the boy's mother. Tibarn knew well how a proper parent fretted over the safety of her youngling, and made sure he respected her protective instincts. After a ten minute flight, the hawk leveled downward, opting for an easier landing than his usual dive and sudden stop. A textbook landing; Tibarn had timed his descent perfectly and came to stop a few feet above Ria, hovering in place a moment to kill his momentum completely before alighting gracefully on the grass.
He remained silent, but a glow of utter delight and satisfaction gleamed in the hawk's fierce amber gaze.

Ria watched closely as the bird allowed him to get on and she only wished that she could make sure he would behave and follow his directions, both for his safety and for Tibarns safety. Rete', you better behave... listen to him. She smiled seeing that he looked so happy on the bird like creature that Tibarn turned into. "Rete' listen to him carefully...!" She said watching as Tibarn told him what to do and exactly how to do it. Surprisingly, Rete' was listening to what he said and with nothing less than a huge grin on his face.
"Mommy.. I get to go high, don't I... I get to fly... I can't wait. I wanna go all the way up to the sky.. can I touch a cloud.. Ti-barn?" Rete' asked as he held his small hands around Tibarns fragile neck. He put his face down on the birds back for a moment and then back up looking At Ria. "Don't worry Mommy... I'll be back.. I promise!"
His words stopped suddenly as the take off started and then Rete's head shot down, his eye's away from the height that was below them. "I gotta look.. I gotta look... " He told himself as they became steady in the air, Rete's little head finally popped back up and he saw the world below him. "Wow! This is really cool. I can't beleive that you do this all the time. You are so cool!" He said excitment in his voice as a Worried Ria stood below.
"Rete'... stay still.. hold on tight... keep holding on!" She kept saying under her breath as she watched them fly the perimeter of the lake. She could tell that Tibarn wasn't going anywhere out of her sight. He already knew the worries of a Mother, and he abide by them without a single hesitation. After the time was up, she watched as he flew back down and then layed down on the ground. Rete' looked astonished and amazed at what he saw.
"Mommy... DId you see me? Did you see me.. We were flying.. I could almost touch the sun. I am so happy. Momma, Can Ti-barn.. take me flying again soon? Can he?" He suddenly turned to Tibarn after he had jumped off in excitment. "Can I? Will you let me ride again?"
Ria smiled and shook her head slightly as the young boy went on about his flight. Such a child he was! "Thank you Tibarn.. YOu have given him such a special day!" She said to him as she went over to him giving him a hug. "Rete', did you have fun? You need to thank Tibarn for letting you ride!"
Rete' gasped. "Oh, yeah.. your right, Mommy.. Ti-barn...." He started as he walked near him and and put his hand on his neck. "Thank you, Ti-barn... I really liked the flying. Can we go more up there next time? I wanna touch the sun!" Rete' looked over at his mom and ran to her suddenly, and pulled her down, whispering in her ear.
"I'll ask..." She told Rete' as she looked to Tibarn. "I.. Well, We would like to know... if you wanted to come over for supper one night...?" A smile graced her lips as she walked near Tibarn. "Well? How about it?"

(OOC: OMG... the other day, it was so awesome... There was this guy with only ONE LEG tearing up the DDR at Silver City... It was amazing!)
As Rete' slipped off his feathered back, Tibarn folded his wings and re-assumed his humanoid form in the same breath. He then crouched down in front of the boy and put a hand on his shoulder; "Absolutely! I've never had such a well-behaved passenger before, and it would be my pleasure - no, my honour to fly with you again, young one."
"Thank you Tibarn.. You have given him such a special day!"
He stood and waved her words away with a modest smile. "Not at all! It was my treat, truly. I'm just happy you allowed me to fulfill one of his dreams, Ria. And you are more than welcome, young Rete'. Such excellent manners!" Seeing the boy shyly whispered something in his mother's ear, Tibarn couldn't help smiling and shaking his head again. "Still shy, young one? Heh heh heh..."
"I.. Well, We would like to know... if you wanted to come over for supper one night...? Well? How about it?"
Wow... a human was inviting him over for dinner? This sarcastic sentiment was replaced by a warm flood as he reminded himself that Ria and Rete' weren't your typical 'humans'. Their ready acceptance of those different from them, and the genuine kindness and innocent curiosity they showed him... It thawed his heart considerably.
Aware there was a light blush in his scarred cheeks, Tibarn nodded and grinned boyishly. "I... I would like that a lot, yes. " Her smile and warmth sent a pleasant thrill up his spine; he couldn't remember the last time he'd felt so giddy. Well, when was the last time he'd had such innocent fun? The last time he'd been addressed on equal grounds by a human? It had been a while, that was for sure.

"Mommy... Momma... he said I could do it again, Can I?" The young boy jumped up a little bit landing with a bounce. He glanced over at Tibarn as his mother asked the question that he wanted to know about. Having someone come over to his house that could turn into something really awsome was exciting to Rete'. "No.. I'm not that shy.. but... I wanted mommy to ask you... about supper. What kind of food do you like? I can help her make it. I can set the table for her or I can show you my room while she fixes the food?"
Ria shook her head with a smile at Rete's enthusiasm. Something he got from his father, but somethings he got on his own. The only good quality he got from her was her manners. She was proud of him for using his manners and being good for Tibarn. She knew she would raise him right, but it was the raising part that was hard for her with such an energetic little boy.
I... I would like that a lot, yes." Was his sole reply. She couldn't beleive that he actually accepted the offer, but who could refuse and for one she was glad that he didn't. She had never saw Rete' grow to liek someone so quickly, but neither did she. She felt a cold chill run down her back knowing that he would be at her house soon, and the thought sent a memory through her head.
It's been over six years since his death, and I just... can't imagine getting into another relastionship. BUT this is only friendship blooming, right? I mean, Honestly, do you think he would even go for you? AS he says, we are just human. We are not his 'type'. I wonder what would come of this 'dinner' date with Rete' and me? I guess there is only one way to find out, but hopefully, it will come soon, cause I feel as if I've met a really good friend.
"So, When would you like to come over?" Ria started but as Always Rete' interrupted.
"How about tomorrow? Or tonight? I'm sure we could have fun? We just met and... I don't want Ti...barn to leave, mommy. I wanna talk to him some more!" Ria stood there speachless without a word to interrupt. For once, her son had actually been able to speak something that was on her mind in the first place. The only reaction to Rete' was a grin in Tibarns way.

Tibarn couldn't help bursting out laughing; the goddess bless young children! "Your room you say? Well, it better be clean!" he said, giving Ria a conspiratol wink. "As for food... I'm certainly not picky! Meat and fish are the staple of any hawk, but I'm always willing to try anything once." A flutter of excitement bristled his wings and pasted a broad smile on the hawk king's scarred face. Imagine that, a laguz king making dinner plans like an old hen! He expected to feel embarrassed, but was actually absurdly pleased with this turn of events. After all, he had come here to get a better understanding of how peaceful humans lived...
"So, When would you like to come over?" Ria had begun, but the exciteable Rete' quickly jumped in with, "How about tomorrow? Or tonight? I'm sure we could have fun? We just met and... I don't want Ti...barn to leave, mommy. I wanna talk to him some more!" Catching Ria's sheepish grin, Tibarn pressed a calloused finger to Rete''s lips. "Slow down there, lad! This is something for your mother to decide, not you or I!" He then gave Rete' a gentle pat on the back and smiled warmly at Ria. "Anytime is good for me, really. I've just been taking in the sights, and I can give you the number for the motel at staying at in town. As for now, well, there is nothing to worry about, young one; a proper hawk never leaves good company unless there is a mutual farewell!"

"Yes... my room is clean. Mommy makes me clean it everyday, so it's never dirty!" He told Tibarn as he kicked the ground and turned to Ria. She returned a smile to Tibarn when she pulled Rete' near her, letting her arms go around the boy. A yawn from the youngster told Ria that it was almost time to go. "I really like fish Ti-barn.. I love fish sticks, do you? Momma.. can we fix fish sticks?"
"Well, I'm sure that Tibarn has plans tonight and is probably not able to make it. Besides... Mommy needs time to fix the food before he arrives, so..." She stood still for a moment thinking about the dinner plans that needed to be made. "... how about tomorrow. Around seven? I can call you before supper is ready... or you could come early, to keep Rete' company? He's grown to like you already, I do beleive!" A mutual farewell. She hated to do it, but she had lost track of time and the way Rete' had yawned it meant that he was getting tired although he refused to show it in other ways. Ria stepped a little closer to Tibarn. "Well, it is getting late and I think that Rete' is getting tired... So... I look forward to the plans tommorow, right?"
Rete' grinned whole heartably thinking about Tibarn coming over and he turned his head as a nother yawn escaped his lips. The poor boy was exhausted. How could anyone blame him? He'd had the best day of his life. He got to fly into the sky on the Laguz king! "So, Are you coming over? Huh? I can't wait..."

Tibarn smiled broadly. "I do like fishsticks! And I'm glad you do too, young one. They will help you grow big and strong - like me, hahahaha!" In just a short time, he developed quite a fondness for the energetic Rete'. Such purity was hard to come by, and Tibarn hoped the boy held on to his innocence as long as possible. Tibarn lamented the days when he too, had once looked at the world with such bright, optimistic enthusiasm...
"Well, it is getting late and I think that Rete' is getting tired... So... I look forward to the plans tommorow, right?"
Plans... I'm really going through with this, aren't? The phrase formed in his mind as more of a statement than a question. And that was because he knew the answer: a resounding YES.
The hawk king nodded and said, "Yes, I very much look forward to your phone call. I can't remember the last time I was invited to a casual dinner!" He gave Rete' a gentle chuck on the chin. "This'll be fun, right? You make sure you're on your best behaviour for your mother, alright? If I come over and hear you've been misbehaving..." He let the empty threat hang in the air with a waggle of his finger. He already knew the boy would be no trouble for his mother. Tibarn had never seen such a well-behaved human child; not even the young hawks back home showed as much respect and discipline at this age!
As he turned and opened his wings to leave, a sadness and sense of longing unexpectedly seized him and a forced a frown over his scarred face. "Well, I'll be by tomorrow then. But if you have any problems and feel you need help, please don't hesitate to call me." Maybe I should get one of those cell phones everyone has these days... "And I do mean any problems, alright? Don't be shy."
He forced a cheery smile and a wave, then was off with a few strokes of his powerful wings.
