How wrong she was about him not being able to get rid of the past. Well...not get rid of it, but letting some of it go. It wasn't that you should let go of it, but you shouldn't dawdle on it. If you let go of it, you didn't have a future. Still, the biggest part of his past was alot bigger than some crappy relationship that couldn't have been. Not could been, couldn't have been.
"I'm glad you find me funny....for now." He said, letting fangs grow in. They just appeared at his will. It was simply releasing Chaos a little. "Still, I can't get too emotional. I have bigger worries. You could say I have....the weight of the world on my back." He said with a quick flash of a grin, thensuddenly feeling a quick joly of pain on his back that brought him back to his emotionless face, staring at the counter.
He then said in a sort of monotone "Your on good terms with her as far as you know. Just know your not her friend. The most you are to her is an acquaintance, and a person she does not want to kill. She probably doesn't want to be close to anyone but Arkady, afraid that if she does, it will be....what was his name...Driuz or something or other. Either way, once I meeter her, don't expect her to be exactly the same as she is now." He said, drawling a little bit. He asked for two more glasses of wine. Listen, after years of Ven'c chemicals, and government testing, do you think that this man has a weak alcohol system?!

Maya was unphased by the fangs. She'd seen worse. But how stupid or naive did he think she was? Maya knew full well that her and Sophie were far from friends. They were simply...Simply on the mend. There we go, on the mend. They were "patching things up". With arkady around, the would probably never be friends. Maya quirked an eyebrow, "Driuz? Who is that?" She asked curiously. She wanted to know. He was being so free on information about Sophie, that Maya couldn't help but be interested. "It seems as though someone like you would have something better to do than to steal away someone's happiness. Messing with Sophie is messing with her and Arkady's relationship, and that's not nice is it?" She asked, almost smiling. How hypocrytical did she sound to herself? It's not nice to steal away Sophie's happiness, Arkady. For some reason, Maya was near anxious for someone to run along and mess it up, be it her or Seaheart.

Was that his name? Time had fogged up those small facts. Driuz...something like that. "I never said I was going to mess up her relationship. Hell I might..." He thought of it with a weak smile and said "Hell, with what I'm thinking of saying it might even help their relationship. But I do have some questions for her....hopefully I can catch her without Arkady. Make things easier. She'd probably feel awkward. Not for me. Not too many past relationships mean much to me....bah. I'm ranting again. Anyway, do you know where Dementia lives?"

Rachel could barely keep an excited bounce out of her step; she had a picture. Bane had slid it under the door of her room in this motel and then beat a hasty retreat. Yeah, Rachel was peeved with him for being a sneaky bastard, but that was Bane and no one, not even the royal family could make him conform. The only reason she knew it had been him was from the scent he left on photo. But Rachel really, truly didn't care at the moment. She was closing in on the Scion, and that was all that mattered to her. Clutching the 4x6 photo in her hand as she made her way to the bar area, the laguz princess couldn't help pausing to get a good look at the Scion. Tresses the hue of spun gold hung carelessly from his cranium, his blue eyes piercing, to say the least. His handsome face held a roguish expression as though he wasn't pleased his photograph was being taken, and was unafraid to let the photographer, and who ever viewed the photo, know it. Rachel could never recall being attracted to humans, but she had to admit: the Scion was... striking. He appeared to be somewhere around his late twenties to early thirties and... yeah, for a human was totally gorgeous.
Rachel didn't realize she'd been so enthralled with the picture until she walked into the bar with enough force to knock the wind out of her. "Oof!" She leaned on the bar for a moment to catch her breath, and fluffed out her tail. How embarrassing.
Composing herself quickly, Rachel faced a converesing pair next to where she'd collided with the bar. Acting like nothing had happened, she slid the photo in front of the young woman with cinnamon coloured hair and politely asked, "Excuse me, I was wondering... do either of you recognize this man? It's important..." One of her ears flicked and her tail twitched involuntarily as the laguz waited for a response.

Seaheart looked at the picture carelessly for a moment, then flicked his eyes back to the counter. Blond hair....blue eyes, somewhat roguish expression......(Heh. Sounds like Raiden from the Metal Gear Solid Series to me) "Yeah. I think it might be Arkady S. Belmont. Heh. But don't get too excited if your planning on dating him. He's heavily involved with a girl by Dementia Kemik. Well, her real name is Sophie Devereux, but she's still Dementia inside, and she knows it." He said, still glarign at the counter, with only a twitch of a smile to suggest that somehow he thought this a funny situation.

Maya nodded her head to Seaheart. "Yes, I do know where they live," she began,"I'm actually joining them for dinner tonight. She watched nonchalantly as a girl strolled in,a picturein her hand...Boy was she captivated. Seeing howit was her job,Maya was about to say, "Maya I help you," when the girl walked right into the bar. She didn't surpress her small chuckle, and simply asked,"Are you okay?" That is until the girl placed a picture infront of her.... His features...So dashing! Her mouth went dry, her heart pounding,as though he were actually around. And just to think: In a few hours, he would be in his house, dinning with him.... She payed little to no attention to seaheart's babble. But finally, she shook herself out of the trance she was in. "Yes...I do know him...Infact, I'm having dinner with him and his spouse tonight...Any reason that you have a photo of him, and are asking around for him?"

(OOC: I've only played one of the MGS games, so I wouldn't know lol)
Arkady S. Belmont... Rachel had to admit, it had an almost lyrical cadence to it. It was enough to lift her spirits even further - until the heavy word 'involved' was dropped. "Oh..." was all she could say in reply, at first. Then she added, "I-Is that so? Well, that's fine..." And why wouldn't it be? She only needed the Scion for one night; this Sophie/Dementia or whatever the heck her name was wouldn't even know about it. Or care. Rachel had been given the impression early on that humans didn't put much thought and devotion into relationships. It made the wolf laguz sick to her heart; wolves mated for life, and to show anything but complete loyalty, love and devotion to your significant other was unthinkable. The promiscuity of humans was one reason why her tribe steered clear of them.
"Yes...I do know him...Infact, I'm having dinner with him and his spouse tonight...Any reason that you have a photo of him, and are asking around for him?"
This time, Rachel's heart DID soar. No way! To think she was this close... She better think up a story, and quick. "I'm... investigating an inheritance issue," Rachel heard herself say. "Arkady stands as the sole heir to... a vast laguz fortune, and my people wish to find him right away for... reasons I cannot disclose. Client confidentially." Rachel hoped she sounded like a convincing private investigator; she'd read enough mystery novels, that was for sure.

Maya felt an eyebrow quirk as the lady gave an explanation as to why she was looking for him....Why'd she have to think about it? Something's fishey... And something was. The girl didn't even look like a private investigator...More like an adolescent with raging hormones who was just squirming to get her fingers on the prize. Maya wanted to knock Seaheart in the back of the head, only for him to pop out "He's involved" again....Well, of course he could drop the Sophie part. Maya could feel jealousy returning. It was one of those 'If I can't have him, then why should anyone else' kinda things...Well, besides Sophie... But despite all of the raging emotions going on within her right now, Maya put on a polite face, and simply said, "Well, whether I believe what seems like you've just made up or not, I'm going to ask you to be my surprise guest to their house at dinner tonight..." She felt despicable for even thinking up the idea that was brewing in her head... But she was going to be stuck for at least two hours or so with Sophie for crying out loud!! If she wasn't going to mess it up, then someone else had to.

He listened intently,. but hardly showing it. He still gazed at the counter blankly, seeming asleep with his eyes open. He had to read between the lines. All right. She wanted him for...well, she obviously wanted him for love issues. He deciphered this when hse was disappointed at being unavailable. Inheritance, inheritance....all right. He put this into an old times perspective. In order for two kingdoms to share certain riches and alliances, the prince and princess of the two countries needed to marry. Still, marriage wasn't worth much these days...
So, what was the most important thing in a relationship these days? To teenagers? To teenagers with raging hormones? Even adults with raging hormones? Wonderful! Your not stupid. So now let's bring it to modern times. Laguz was...it was some word that meant waterfall or something to do with water. Many variations. Cat ears on her...a tribe. Well here was someone he could relate to. Looking for a person you hardly knew because it is your destiny that your tribe bestowed upon you.
So, perhaps the laguz weren't some tribe. Maybe a codename for a group of friends, who knew Arkady, and if she had sex with him, they would give her money. Maybe she needed to give birth to his child in order to save her tribe. He cared for Dementia, and knew Sophie would not survive in this world much longer. He needed to get them apart. He wasn't going to go for Dementia, but she needed to hear the truth, and snap out of it. "Maya? Do you mind if I come too? We both want the same thing. Different reasons of course, but why not, hmm? Just for tonight? And we can say this is an old friend of ours?" He whispered audible enough for only her to hear.

Maya chuckled a Seaheart's words. At first, it sounded all goood. But then, she felt a twinge of guilt licking at her insides. This wasn't her. Sure, she had been caught up in the moment, and had wanted to see Sophie and Arkady fail, but Seaheart...He wanted more. Knowing him, he was probably plotting more than what she had been hoping for. Maya's head shook, "No Seaheart. We don't want the same thing. We want something totally different." She straighted, "I don't thnk it's a good idea if you come, but you," she pointed her head in the direction of the other girl, "It's fine if you come...Im sure your reasons aren'tas sadistic as this one's here." With that, she turned, and walked away.

Seaheart shrugged, not really caring. There was a shadow tracking her, and she would never know. It blended in with hers. He'd just have to follow it, and make a guest appearance. He just loved the idea of being the party crasher of Maya's. She annoyed him immensely. It would be fun just to see her be a little surprised when he came, much less how he knew where they had been going for dinner. He looked at the cat-girl, smiling what looked like a gunuine smile, unlike his usual sadistic one. He said refined, almost mouthing all his words "Come with my child, and I will give you what you want tonight."

Rachel ignored the insinuations that her story was a fake one; she never had been good at lying. Telling falsehoods was so... dirty; so underhanded. No self-respecting wolf bothered with them, but Rachel had discovered over the course of her venture that a little white lie was sometimes better than the truth. And these two obviously had some connection with Scion/Arkady, so she figured discretion was the better part of valor in this case.
"...I'm going to ask you to be my surprise guest to their house at dinner tonight..."
The laguz opened her mouth to question the girl's authority on inviting guests to another home, but abruptly stopped herself. This was exactly what she had been hoping for, and to ruin the big break she needed with a few careless words -true as they may be- would be sheer idiocy. "Hmm, that... sounds like a very good idea," she replied politely. Bowing politely to the man, she hastily followed the girl out.
"I can't thank you enough, Miss. I've been trying to track down this man for two years with little luck," she said, almost conversationally. "My name is Rachel, and here, I'll give you my cell number for future reference." She handed her a slip of paper. "Is there anything else you think I should know?"

Maya's attention stayed straight ahead, not once slipping to look back at her. She listened to the girl's words carefully. Then, as she handed Maya the number, her head turned for once, taking the slip of paper. Maya smiled abit. "Thanks, and I am glad to be of help to you..." She continued walking.
"Is there anything else you think I should know?"
Maya nodded, "Yes, I think you should know that I know there's another reason you want him...I'd like to know what that reason is...I mean, I'm going to find out anyway, but I'm not too big on surprises."

Rachel hesitated; humans were untrustworthy at best, but she could respect this woman's dislike of surprises when it came to important matters. Her tail swished back and forth slowly as she thought of the best way to impart her tale, and what parts to leave out. It was clear to Rachel now that this woman had more than just a mere connection with the Scion.
"I need him," Rachel stated matter-of-factly. "My tribe needs him, I should say. I am..." she paused, unsure if she should go on. But then it occured to her that she needed at least one confidante in this town. She gently but firmly grabbed the woman's arm to halt her forward advance and spun her around to face her. "Look, what I'm about to tell you MUST NOT be repeated for any reasons; you could put my life at risk. I go by Rachel Weiss, but my true name is Riarne Bleddyn, and I am princess of the wolf laguz tribe. And according to a prophecy, I must find the Scion -or Arkady, as you know him- and... receive a special power from him." She decided not to elaborate on the 'how'.
She then released the woman's arm and stood back with a sheepish smile. "Sounds pretty far-fetched, huh?" The smile disappeared and a hard glint appeared in Rachel's chocolate eyes. "Well I'm dead serious."

Maya quirked a brow when the girl stated that she needed him. "You need-" Maya was cut off as her body was whipped around lightly by the girl. Of course, their was a look of dire confussion on her face, but luckily, the girl explained. She could she that Rachel was serious...How special Maya felt that a stranger she'd just now met was....Confiding in her? Well obviously, this was indeed serious..."Wolf?! Arkady's no wolf! Well, he always did have that animalistic- Never mind that, but what?!" Maya's face show complete and utter bewilderment as shewas lost. "Okay...Prophecy...Power...What power? I'm confused...Please, do, tell me more."
